I'm tempted to try one out with my HD800, mostly thinking ahead for use when I finally bag the turntable I'm after. I'm undecided at the moment because, for a similar price, you can pick up a decent used Klark Teknik DN410 (hardware parametric eq) that would be a lot more versatile. Hmm...

ur right but I feel this will be way better as hes measured it accordingly and seems to have done a great job I doubt we could replicate the results with are own tweaking to the same level

Well when Solderdude/Frans measured my AKG K500 headphones he let me listen to his HD650. It was a while ago during the Changstar days.

My feet were tapping and kept tapping. His HD650 sounded good, even fun without weird sound artifacts.

I have this. I use it with my project ember off the TA-ZH1ES when it's in DAC only mode and I feel like getting some tube amplification. It adds subbass to the 800 and it reduces it's highs quite a bit, which is a little unfortunate because I think that ultra detail of the 800 is what is nice about it. I don't use it that often because I mainly use the 800 in balanced mode, where I think it sounds better. I do like it with a few other headphones I use tho.

I don't post often or read on forums because there is a lot of childish behavior going on on most of them. Also a lot of people with disinformation, in my opinion. But since nobody answered your question, I thought I could help inform you of my opinion on the hardware. It's a very cool device but I am not sure it really is worth the cost. (hardware EQ)

I bought one, and used it for a while, but I can hear serious clipping at higher levels. Surprising since the Phonitor is a good amp (with decent headroom in the design, I assume, it uses 120V DC power rails) and LCD-XC are fairly sensitive. So it's going on ebay. Probably a 10dB version would be more practical?

PS: not knocking Jeremy or his products in general, build quality and customer service were both first-rate.

    Necro Bump - Sorry, Not-Sorry ;)

    1. I just purchased a HD800 filter - do I need another device in addition to the "filter" or can it run standalone? Does solderdude post as another alias here?

Does not seem to be much activity with these passive active eq's.
