Nice onyx luster to it, I'd love to hear it on their marble amp.

Given the incremental version revision number I suspect it will be a $2k and under headphone (small price drop to HD800S or it replaces HD800 entirely) probably similar driver technology, and given the trend of the HD800S, maybe a bassier flagship. I'm not expecting some exotic beryllium or diamond driver or a totally new price bracket with such a minor model number revision.

I think someone put this up on reddit as a joke/hoax. I do not see it elsewhere on the internet. Does anyone have a link besides reddit?

It's perfectly plausible. I hope they continue to increment on their toroidal driver rather than just the damping and cosmetics.

I did the same digging. I don't trust it yet. The original source seems to be an asian site so I can't really tell (I can't read it - erji.net). I suspect Sennhesier would want the release on their page first... But stranger things have happened. Too soon tell for sure I guess.

These products are being previewed at the FUJIYA AVIC Tokyo Headphone Festival (4/29-4/30) and High End Munich (5/18). More details will be forthcoming.

Considering HDV820 is already a thing, this one isn't far-fetched.

I wouldn't bet on it. Sennheiser probably wants in on the $3,000-$5,000 standard that Hifiman, Focal & JPS set.

Looks like a closed back version to me, just by the pics. It would make sense, considering the HD 800S didn't come out all that long ago.

I'll go ahead and say this is a fake. Although I'd like for it to be real I just don't see it. Sure, I could rationalize it but just look at that grainy ass photo to start with. Senn moves slowly and they just released the 800S not that long ago. I hope that I'm wrong.

If it's not fake, and it is a closed headphone, perhaps it's a response to the AKG K872 closed. HD820 also sounds like a "variation" model #. If it was an all-new design, it would probably be HD900 or HD1000.

But I'm thinking if it were legit, we'd see something somewhere.

Did you just photoshop this? I google image searched it and it's from the Orpheus stuff in 2015.
