Power supplies are a huge contributor to amplifier performance or lack thereof. This power supply sounds like old school ultra high performance.
Connectology is exceptionally well thought out. The durability of those connectors facilitate experimentation with multiple input devices, headphones, speakers, etc.
I shouldn't even be considering adding another headphone amp to my collection but this one has the makings of something very special.

Are final specs going to be posted or sent out to people in the current amp run? I'm curious what this bad boy can do!

I checked the web site. Still not sure of the name? :)

I didn't notice this in the marketing material on the web site. How much to silk screen this on the side of the amp?

Pff what? I don't want any money going into a manual! It better be like this:

I also forgot to ask, what dac were you using when Brencho came over / what do you generally tend to use with it? Haven't heard any talk about that at all from the lucky few who have heard it.

Edit: @Ray I know was just a joke.

Eddie currents owners manuels are maybe one or two pages. Not much to cover. This shit isn't rocket science

Will this fit on the Pangea Vulcan rack? It's 23.75" wide by 18" deep.

Curious if there are any impressions of the Aficionado's performance with speakers. The headphone impressions from the meet were overwhelmingly positive.

Nothing much needs to be said so as long your speakers are efficient enough, i.e. 93db+. You cannot beat SET with good transformers with efficient speakers. The voicing has been made slightly fuller and bassier since the meet. Just slightly, to make sure the amp is still near neutral for speakers.

I've had iterations of the prototype running with Moth Cicadas and Fostex Sigma BLHs before I even tried it with headphones. Personally I care about speakers more. This is why there are separate RCA outputs that can be used for subs or biamping (e.g. solid state amp for big woofers). If the amp happens to work great with headphones; well, I guess that's a plus.

It should. It's about 14" deep. The main chassis is 12" wide.

    @Marvey, a couple questions:
    1. How tall is it with the stock feet (including tubes)?
    2. Does the speaker kill switch also kill the RCA/XLR out? Assuming not, but was thinking about the use case of speakers plus self-powered subs and figured the user would have to switch on each sub too when using speakers.

I would check with Judi at EC to find out. Email works best.

I have secured a spot in the second batch like a week ago, if that helps. I was told the first batch will start to ship around November and that's when they start to focus on the second batch, too. Hope it helps.

Just check the site next time. Orders will be in the second batch, but I'd assume they still have spots while that sheet is still available. Or at worst you can send it in by email and they'll at least tell you something.

Since I'm making a post, I'm also in batch two, and Judi estimated January for when it'll be shipping. So we are still quite a while out for second batchers.

The first two have been built and are now being burned in (24 hours). Assembly line is cranking. Craig's sent me measurements and specs so I can update the primitive website.

Just curious, why such and old looking site? Seems a bit outdated/hard to use.

I feel like I could make a better one for it for free.

Commitment to the no-nonsense all-business non-bling word-of-mouth nature of EC. We want people NOT TO BUY - because we couldn't make enough amps fast enough.

    That logic works for me.

I am still holding out hope that Craig will maintain the energy and willpower to build those Aficionado monoblocks before he retires...

Does Craig take deposits or would the entire price need to be paid upfront?
