Not sure if there are many Michiganders or maybe some people from northern Ohio around here, but I have just organized a small meet that will be happening on Sunday June 3, 2018 at 1pm in Commerce, MI.

This started out as me connecting with some local headphone people around reddit and head-fi and wanting to gather some people at my apartment for a mini-meet. I ended up finding a guy that graciously offered to host it at his home tiki bar that is open to the public. The place is called The Lili Kai Club.

Since this is a smaller, mini-meet it would really help to keep track of everyone that is coming to make sure we can accommodate. Please use this google doc to sign up (you can ignore the date categories since we have that settled now). Also, in that doc you can list what gear you have available. Also, you can add notes to request specific gear from others that you are interested in hearing. So yeah, probably good to keep the google doc link handy so you can periodically check it and see what new people sign-up and what potential new gear there could be.

Hopefully some of you here can make it out, it should be a really fun event!

If it were a month later I'd be in town from AZ visiting family and could've swung by. Almost.

Ah sucks! Well since I know you from reddit, if you have some spare time and want to check out any of my personal gear, you would be welcome to swing by Ann Arbor area for a little hang out.

Unfortunately, flights don't really work out of our airport. Not enough flights and not enough competition means high prices and driving is actually faster. I'm looking at the driving logistics now, but I think I'm out.

Heard about this from a friend. If anybody coming from the south felt like picking up a stranger near Ypsi/Belleville it'd be a no brainer. May well come anyway but I'll have to think about it. Wouldn't be able to bring anything extraordinary to share but I'll grab what I can.

I have yet to hear a decent DAC/amp combo to be honest so it would be a good experience.

Final call for this meet happening tomorrow, June 3rd at 1pm. Space is starting to get tight, but we should have room for a few more people if anyone last minute decides they want to come. I would appreciate if you could message me though and let me know if you are planning to be there just to make sure.

Here's a taste of some notable gear that will be there...

Headphones: ZMF Auteur, Atticus (both Cocobolo and Cherry), HD820, HD800, HD800S, Abyss Diana, Abyss 1266 Phi, LCD-4Z, Susvara, Sundara, Ether C Flow, Final D8000, Ultrasone Edition 15, LCD-3F, HEX, LCD2C, Utopia, Clear, Elear, TH-610, TH-X00, AD2000X, ADX5000

IEMs: Andromeda, LCDi4, Empire Ears Legend X

Sources: Marantz HD-DAC1, Gustard X20, Modi Multibit, Bifrost, Valhalla 2, Yggdrasil, Raggy, MCTH, McIntosh MHP1000, Feliks Elise, Chord DAVE, Chord Hugo 2, iFi Pro iCan, iFi black label, Fiio Q5

We are also going to be doing a Stax/estat shootout. On hand will be all the current Lambdas L300, L500, L700, and SR404 along with 252S, 353X, and 006t for energizers. The brand new Stax 009S is making an appearance too along with SR-009, SR-007mk1, SR-007mk2, and those should have 007tII and the SRM-D10 for power. There should also be a Koss ESP950 as well.

Wow, great pics! Thanks so much for documenting the event. I was so busy talking to people and just sharing gear that I really didn't get a chance to really snap any photos of all the great gear there. It was great meeting you and I hope you enjoyed the event!

Hey tacos, you might know me as /u/ConorBrennan on Reddit. I posted some AXPONA impressions on the Voce and we've been in correspondence regarding visiting ya and trying out your STAX in an environment I can actually hear in :p

I see there was a VOCE at the meetup- did you try it? What we're your thoughts on it in regards to your Stax?

I still remember that, in my opinion, the difference between the stax and the Voce was the Voce sounded "warm" as opposed to the STAX which, to me, sounded "cold". Only relative to each other, of course.

But that might be the effects of AXPONA loudness getting to me, since I never really got a perfect chance to try it.

Btw, I think I might just be able to come out tomorrow, if that works for you?

Turns out I missed this. I am in Ypsilanti Township. I see there may be at least 1 or more people around me. We could get something together in regards to gear comparisons and/or temporary loaners among ourselves on a more frequent basis if we are centrally located.

Is anyone interested in stereo equipment? My interest has been more along these lines, but naturally I also enjoy headphones which are pretty exclusively used at my office.

I was also at Axpona this year. I was in the Graham Audio USA / Nagra room.

Yeah, I did hear VOCE, we can talk about all that in person when you swing by. Tomorrow works for me as long as it is in the afternoon/early evening, like I said I am going to be watching the NBA Finals at 9pm tomorrow night. Shoot me a PM either here or on reddit and we can exchange contact info and go from there.

Hey, cool to see another local in this forum. Sucks you missed the meet this past weekend, I tried to get it is visible as possible and posted it here, on head-fi, and in the headphones subreddit. But I know there's a lot of headphone enthusiasts around the area and I don't always know how to find them all. There's actually a decent number of headphone people I have met right in our local Ann Arbor/Ypsi area. I've hosted a mini-meet at my apartment last Fall too.

Anyways, I have always offered to let anyone audition my gear if they want to come by my apartment. I've had some others take me up on it in the past. I'm not big into speakers right now since I am always bouncing around apartments so I only have a pair of JBL LSR305 monitors. But if you are interested in some of the higher end headphones/IEMs I have quite a few pieces of gear in my collection. Right now I own:

Headphones: ZMF Auteur (Padauk), ZMF Atticus (Cocobolo), Sennheiser HD800 (SDR), Sennheiser HD6XX, Fostex TH-X00, Audeze LCD2C, Focal Elear, Philips SHP9500S, Alessandro MS1, CAL!, Stax SR404, Koss KSC75
IEMS: CA Andromeda, Pinnacle PX, KZ ZS6, Tin Audio T2, VE Monk+
    Amps: Audio-gd R2R 11, Audio-gd NFB-11, Valhalla 2, Schiit Magni 3, Xduoo XD-05, Stax SRM-006t
DACs: Schiit Modi Multibit, Theta DSPro basic II, Audio-gd R2R 11, Audio-gd NFB-11, Xduoo XD-05

And at the moment, I am currently borrowing another local's Stax gear so on hand I have a L300, L500, and L700 along with a 252S and 353X energizer.

Let me know if you ever want to audition anything.

Wish I could have made this one, hoping to make the fall meet that John is planning. Would have loved to hear all that Stax gear. I really liked the L700 during my brief ownership period with them but could not afford a quality amplifier to drive them. Truthfully though these meets usually just cost me money as I want to (and do) upgrade to something else the moment I get back home.
