2016 Sterophile Records to Die For list came out, and I can always use a good recommendation, even though my list of records to purchase is already a mile long. Weather Report, Talk Talk, Bud Powell and Bad Brains (!) and much more. As someone newer to purchasing vinyl, I need all the help I can get catching up on good recordings. Please tar and feather me if this list stinks.

Direct to disc stuff. Some odd sounding stuff, but fantastic recordings of it.

Everyone should have at least one Weather Report album in their collection.

Everyone should have every Weather Report album, provided it's got Jaco. :p

@JoshMorr that list has been going on along time, and they've picked the best in earlier years. For audiophile records, this is the initial reference list

I vote for Heavy Weather, which is a gateway drug to fusion!

    Other possibilities

Bob Dylan - The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan
John Coltrane - A Love Supreme
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue, Miles Ahead
The Beatles - Mono Box set, or the 1980 Blue Box set in Stereo (these are EMI/Uk pressings)
    Steely Dan - Aja
Dire Straits - Love Over Gold, Brothers in Arms

    Hi SBAF,

This is almost certainly the wrong thread for this, but it seemed sort of connected due to a lot of it being about a guy from Stereophile talking about vinyl. That is my logic anyway.

But did anyone else see this:

I found it very interesting and wondered who else had seen it and what their thoughts were. My favourite bit is when he explains the furry community to those unaware of its existence.
