Thanks, this is what I thought might be the case. Seems like the LISSTs are quite the bargain given how well they perform. I'll track down some of the Dutch tubes and see how that goes.

Can someone confirm me that it does not matter if you use single ended or balanced dac with mjolnir?

It has inputs for both, and if you use the SE inputs you can use both SE and balanced outputs.

How is Mjolnir 2 + LISST vs Mjolnir 1? From my understanding they should be identical sound wise.

Forget I said this. I was too lazy to read the thread. Also don't know how to delete posts.

I recently discovered these and I'm liking them a lot so far: http://ifi-audio.com/portfolio-view/accessory-nos-6922-2/

PM me if you want to know which dealers in the USA have them, most of the ones listed on iFi's website don't.

The f**k? By offering an alternative solution that also embarrasses someone on their pricing?

By that logic @schiit must hate a lot of the other manufacturers out there...

Ah, cool! I had a chance to listen to the Mojo 2 with both LISST + stock tubes recently at a meetup. I unfortunately didn't have my Mojo with me to compare, and there was so much ambient noise. The stock 6BZ7 tubes seemed to a bit fatiguing though, as they did with my Vali 2 when I had that amp for a bit. But I'll see if I can borrow the Mojo 2 at some point and test for myself at home.

I will say that the Mojo 2 did seem to run a lot cooler than my Mojo! The original runs HOT!

Is there any USA based seller of that adapter? Just curious if there's a easier way of getting them.

I should be getting a HD800S soon to pair up with my Mjolnir 2. (Mullard E88Cs).

I have a pair of TH900s that sound fine on them, but there is a slightly irritating transformer hum that is discernible when no music is playing ( My LCD3s are dead quiet).

Hopefully the HD800s (with it's higher impedance) should be quiet on the Mjolnir 2? Do correct me if i'm wrong though...

It shouldn't hum with TH900, I used to have both and mine didn't. Did you try checking for a ground loop (disconnect all the inputs and see if it goes away), and try different tubes?

yep, i tried the LIIST and other tubes...there's still a slight hum. I just find it odd as the LCD3s are dead quiet. /:

*just tested my old K701 on it as well...totally quiet as well.

Must be my TH900 then. hmmm.

(no worries - i'm getting a Vali 2 in anyways to power the TH900).

Did you check for ground loop as suggested? It's very easy, just disconnect all inputs into the Mjolnir2, plug in the th900, turn on amp and listen.

Also, you can do whatever you want with amps, but I can't imagine how a Vali 2 would be a better match for th900 in any way.

i did, no deal - still a slight hum.

*every other headphone i have is dead quiet with the Mjo.

I got the Vali 2 as i've the Modi MB and i quite like the idea of that cute little stack.

Went for a Lyr 2 instead of the Mjolnir because of limited space in my room. In terms of an 800 S, about how much of a performance increase would I have gotten from the Mjolnir 2 balanced? There's always buyers remorse but I figured the Lyr would be sufficient in making these cans sing.

    Why not a Valhalla 2?

I was thinking of getting planars in the future for a more passive listening experience. More so, I'd have to replace 4 tubes instead of 2 if I was to start rolling unless the stock Schiit tubes are suffice. Would you say the Valhalla is better than the Lyr for the S's?

Here's my quandry with this amp and the HD800 (SD mod). As far a treble, all the tubes I have tried are way too piercing/fatiguing, except for the Amperex Orangle Globes which go too far in the other direction and kill the treble. The LISST are perfect treble wise with the 800, and they sound good but there are many aspects of tubes I like better, and I'm sick of switching out LISST for the 800's and tubes for my other headphones

Any recs on a great all around Mjolnir 2 tube that has smoothed, tamed, but not totally rolled off treble?

For reference, my experience in terms of treble of the HD800:
LISST- Smooth but not rolled off to crap, good!
Amperex Orange Globes: Rolled off to crap
Reflector Russian Premium 6H23p-EB: Piercing, but my favorite with others
Vokshod Rockets- Bright as the sun
Electro-harmonix 6922 Gold pins- Too piercing, an ok cheap replacement to stock tho
