At 100 freedom units for a 2-record set the price is a little steep, but I'll probably pick it up anyway because I have high hopes that it'll sound great. I've got some other MoFi pressings of Santana and they do sound very nice. I'm hoping this is everything they're making it out to be.

More About Mobile Fidelity UltraDisc One-Step and Why It Is Superior
Instead of utilizing the industry-standard three-step lacquer process, Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab's new UltraDisc One-Step (UD1S) uses only one step, bypassing two processes of generational loss. While three-step processing is designed for optimum yield and efficiency, UD1S is created for the ultimate in sound quality. Just as Mobile Fidelity pioneered the UHQR (Ultra High-Quality Record) with JVC in the 1980s, UD1S again represents another state-of-the-art advance in the record-manufacturing process. MFSL engineers begin with the original master tapes and meticulously cut a set of lacquers. These lacquers are used to create a very fragile, pristine UD1S stamper called a "convert." Delicate "converts" are then formed into the actual record stampers, producing a final product that literally and figuratively brings you closer to the music. By skipping the additional steps of pulling another positive and an additional negative, as done in the three-step process used in standard pressings, UD1S produces a final LP with the lowest noise floor possible today. The removal of the additional two steps of generational loss in the plating process reveals tremendous amounts of extra musical detail and dynamics, which are otherwise lost due to the standard copying process. The exclusive nature of these very limited pressings guarantees that every UD1S pressing serves as an immaculate replica of the lacquer sourced directly from the original master tape. Every conceivable aspect of vinyl production is optimized to produce the most perfect record album available toda

If they put out any of my all time favorite albums and they really do sound spectacular I'd consider dropping a deuce on them. Abraxas isn't going to cut it for my money.

@songmic just trying to contribute. I generally like the stuff MoFi does and this is a new thing they're doing. The price is awful f'ing steep for a 2-record set but I am legitimately curious if this is all BS or if it really will sound amazing. I imagine it's probably a mixture of BS and pretty good.

At $100 a disc you need a good analog front end to justify the extra cost but i'd be willing to pay that $100/disc for music I really really like.

If the ERC guys can charge 350-400 pounds per disc for their immaculately reproduced re-issues and make it work there is certainly a market for $100 pressings that offer audible sonic benefits.

I appreciate that a company with a solid track record like Mofi is going there and advancing the art of pressing records. Maybe if they get good enough at this process they can find a way to get the same quality at a lower price at which time everybody benefits.

I am still looking for a legit copy of Demon Days by Gorrilaz on vinyl. I don't think I will find one under $300. If theses guys are as good as you guys are saying then I might have to make some requests.
