Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it unless the meet is in October, but I have a Singxer SU-1 and an EC Black Widow I'd be able to lend someone for the meet if people are interested.

Nice thanks, we haven't settled on a date yet, so let's see.

It really depends on who's available to host, and how many people are available to come. I'll start a dedicated thread once I have have more info on either one of those.

Wow I just saw this thread, the forum decided not to give me notifications for being tagged, strange.

Definitely interested in going to CanJam and the next planned meet. Also interested in hearing the new Schiit speaker stuff. I've got myself a pair of LS50 now too.

My place is too small to host, but am looking forward to the next meetup.

I'm also in NYC! I could be down to put some faces to usernames.

Is anybody planning to go to the NY Audio show this weekend (understanding that some are flying out for the SBAF meet). I expect to be there on Saturday if anyone is interested in meeting up there.

OP updated with the latest upcoming events.

Won't be making it since @SteelCannon and I are going to the SBAF meet, but please let us know if you find anything interesting!

I will try to keep this brief. I went last Friday afternoon. I was fighting bronchitis at the time so it kind of put a damper on things for me.

-- Hotel was small and not great. Fewer exhibitors than in prior years. My least favorite of the four I have now attended, but I was nonetheless happy it was back in the city.
-- Speakers, yeah! Horn speakers, f**k yeah!! I have the dealer names at home, but there is a horn builder from NJ whose stuff I liked a couple of years ago who was back with a new speaker that sounded great. (Will get names later.) And a horn maker from Austin, Texas who had a really interesting and nice sounding design.
-- More affordable gear on display, which is a nice change. Less" look how big my schlong is" kilobuck systems, although those were there too.
-- mostly boring "audiophile-approved" tracks being used. I and some others were able to coax some exhibitors into cranking some rock, which they seemed happy to do, but somewhat reticent of clearing the room (which actually happened in one case after some vintage early ZZ Top).
-- Annoying people going room to room with their own CDs demanding certain tracks be played. If you are going to do this, then at least come up with an interesting playlist and not boring audiophile music (see bullet above).
-- highlight for me was hearing "walk on the Wild Side" vinyl on NJ horn guy's new speakers. Bass had so much body and it felt like bass player was in the room with me. Eerie and magical.
-- Headzone had fewer exhibitors than in the past. Peter from HeadRoom was there and it was nice to speak to him as always.

-- HeadRoom had the Audeze LCD-4 which really underwhelmed me out of the GSXII. and I am a fan of the Audeze house sound (albeit not an owner). Early on it was just too crowded and noisy but I came back later when that room had quieted down. It Is not bad by any means but seemed rather unremarkable. I would need to compare side by side against LCD-2, -3 and -X to note differences, but from memory nothing seemed to justify the premium (IMHO) against those similar cans. And the thing was beyond heavy to wear.

-- HR also had HiFiman HE-1K version 2 out of same amp. Fit was MUCH better than mk 1. Styling was still cheap looking though. Sounded very nice and seemed to have more body than I remember mk 1., but that could be faulty audio memory. At a sane price though, I would consider them. By sane I mean around $1,500 and in any event no more than $2K. But that is personal. It did sound very good to my ears and might be worth it to someone who enjoys that sound.

-- Another dealer had the EnigmAcosustics Dharma which I had read about but never demoed. I liked the sound of these upon a brief demo with the major caveat that dealer's song selection sucked and had little I could use as an audio benchmark. Would like to hear those again with music and gear with which I am familiar.

Peter works for HeadAmp, not HeadRoom. That said, he is very nice and also a great photographer! Wish we were there. :headbang: Maybe next time.

Hope you get well soon, so that you can make it to our mini meet! NY meets wouldn't be the same without you.

Hey all -- it looks like I am going to be able to get my hands on a K6xx after all. I thought I should finally own a 650 stock or modded and compare to my 600 and keep one and dispose of the other. Is anyone here able to perform all SBAF approved mods to the 6xx for me. I will reimburse for materials. I know this is relatively easy stuff to many of you, but I guarantee I will screw it up if I try to do it myself. I will not have these until late December. Any help is appreciated.

There's not much that I'm interested in there, but I will probably go and check things out since it is close by.

I feel the same way, just going to go and hope something catches my eye.
I'm slowly moving away from portable audio which means that CanJams have less appeal to me.
At least I'll save some cash, haha.
