Thing looks like a toy with paint that will chip twice as fast. Good news for those who don't already have a pair I guess.

 

So it's a palette-swapped HD650 with the same sound, and a shorter cable?

Am I to understand that the tuning and overall sound signature of the HD6XX is the same as the HD650? Seems strange that the main change is aesthetical.

 

So a new paint job and a shorter cable with 1/8" termination at $199?

Good for interested newcomers who don't have one yet, yawn for everyone else.

The main change is the price.

 

Looks like 650 for 80 bucks less than the original. I'll probably be participating since I don't have a 650 yet.

 

It's the same headphones in a different color. Doesn't seem worth shitting on just from looking at a few pics. Dark blue = toy colored? Got it.

 

I'll probably buy a pair just to have them, as long as the shipping is reasonable for me. Massdrop isn't usually very Canada friendly with shipping availability/prices.

 

Was hoping for a few small tuning changes, but I can't complain about a blue hd650 at $200.

May pick one up some time just to modify.

 

Would be interested if didn't get fucked by customs, tax and shipping. Probably more expensive than an HD650 here lol

 

Well, we sorta knew it was going to be a cheap 650, I thought? All wishes of cool stuff like balanced cables, mass loading etc. were just that- our nerdy wishes.

The funny thing, though- defaulting to a 3.5mm jack is quite unfortunate. The HD650 sounds so totally insipid (especially in the bass) from mobile/underpowered amps, that they're apparently aiming at people who'll get a terrible experience. Maybe we'll see a load for sale used, even cheaper, from people who have angrily replaced these with easier to drive Beats/Bose/etc..

Obviously, though, I am deeply enraged that they're not as black as @landroni's soul...

To 650 owners: does this new cable look like the same build and material as the 650's?

 

I wanted a pink 650 but midnight blue will do.

 

Erm... Looks like Sennheiser hates selling the regular HD650'ies.

 

I can't believe people are griping. I get that some sound modifications would have been interesting, but they're basically taking an amazing headphone and slashing the price.

Where's the issue?

Seems like a great favor to the audiophile community from where I'm sitting. Except those looking to sell their 650s...RIP to their used market value.
