@The Alchemist I think the late 1950s CCa is the best I've heard Mjolnir2. The 396a is a great tube for Mjolnir2, and better than many CCa's I've heard. Can't say if it's better than these pairs though.

Do you think I should save up and try a pair of WE396a's? I found them pretty cheap at tube world express https://tubeworldexpress.com/search?q=396A+Western+Electric

I think it is okay to say SPL here Still prefer the tube amps I have. It is a bit more dry and solid state sounding obviously than any tube amp but it has great balance and good treble extension without emphasising the treble.
