The Steve Lacy catalogue drives me crazy. A discographers nightmare...or dream, I guess. For a collector it's mainly a source of despair Apr 20, 2018 at 5:23 AM

Anthony Braxton live at Café OTO, May 28-30! I’ll be there on the 28th. Would be cool to meet up with other SBAF Jazz Nuts.

@Garns fantastic analogy! I've always thought 'Voice Poetry' sounds like the feeling you have when you've had a liquid lunch on a sunny day and then walks down the city streets with sunglasses on feeling like a million bucks yet with a bit of a stagger :D

@Garns Have you heard Steve Lehman? Try 'Demian As Posthuman' and perhaps 'Dual Identity' with Rudresh Mahanthappa (also featuring Steve Lehman).
Perhaps also Functional Arrhythmias by Steve Coleman and Five Elements.

Murfie.com has 1-year memberships for $49 if you join be the end of the year and part of the membership includes them taking your vinyl and digitizing it. May be worth looking into even with the overseas shipping if the other guys are charging that much.

        What Turntable?

Well, you are going to be listening to the results for ever more, so, one that you would want to listen to anyway. I'd argue (many would disagree) that your digitised results (sans noise you manage to get rid of) can and should sound like the source turntable/pre-amp.

But, whether you agree with that or not, you are freezing that reproduction in your FLAC files. So you are going to have to want to listen to it :)

@DigMe In terms of DEK I think Elisabeth Harnik is just FANTASTIC. I feel she takes control and runs with her ideas and manages to get the other two to join her in what I hear as almost manic runs over the piano. There's a sense of urgency that I really enjoy on all three albums.

@DigMe Also, the way Didi Kern goes within the music and then steps out of it to go in a different direction is just exciting to follow.
But I'd say most essentially I love the unexpected, and these three albums are packed with just that.

Indeed. But his work on Blue Note needs to be seen in the light of what was and what was to come. If I'm not mistaken they got a Grammy for the live albums they did in Sweden (Live at the Golden Circle, vol1 -2.)
Check out James Blood Ulmers album with Ornette; Tales Of Captain Black. That's some great great music

I need to listen to the Live at The Golden Circle albums again. Last time I was listening to them I wasn't feeling the energy. Coulda just been me. I have them both. The Shape of Jazz to Come is probably one of my all time fave jazz studio albums though I don't believe that was Blue Note.

I'm an avid jazz fan and passionate CD collector that came through the gates of HellFi, spent all my $$$ on USB, went very deep into praising just about everything, writing reviews, buying the stuff and the shit......until one day I just couldn't do it anymore.

I'm traveling all around Europe for work so feel free to reach out, I'd be happy to meet up for coffee or conversations about jazz and life and jazzlife and lifejazz.
