Just picked up the ifi Idsd nano as my first usb>spdif transport. The way music emerges from the blackness is surreal.

My recent bamboo hd650 mod was too bright, so I put the stock foam on top.. Much better

The AK players are all the rage until you actually hear one. At least it was for me. Suuuper boring sound. +1 on looking elsewhere, too.

UI on all AK players is ugly, clunky, butchered Android.

My CFA Orion has always been hauntingly wide and I've used to medium tips. Decided to try small tips, different game wow.

foam tips i'm guessing? I have to take them out multiple times in a day so I just use the silicon even though the foams sound a bit better :/

Silicon actually, foams have this weird fit where they're all too long. Plus I enjoy the cooler sound silicon provides. Ended up going back to med tips because the shell was riding too close to my ear. Ouch.

RME 9632 OTW, but no PCI legacy support on mobo (boo), looking for PCI adapter/riser suggestions!

Yeah, my only intent is pushing audio into my Bimby and maybe a gumby in the near future. Everything shows up by the 28th, so hopefully there's no issues.

That should be fine, just watch out with mobos from the sandy and ivy era. Early ones have ITE chips which have a dodgy firmware which can't be updated. But since you want to use z97 i doubt you will have that problem.

My suggestion is to try both WASAPI and ASIO in RMEs drivers and tell me I'm not crazy for preferring ASIO

Do it! You will see the benefit now, it's not particularly expensive, and it will serve you well through any future DAC upgrades. 9632 is better than 9652 though because you have AES available as an option if you need it later.
