Audio-GD Singularity 19 DAC - Comprehensive Review and Impressions

Ya, that would burn right through the S19, bore a hole through the center of the earth and then burn through another S19 that Kingwa was in the process of building on the other side.

 

Same way as one looks at a train wreck, it does make one curious to hear how shit it seems to be.

It would be comical to post it in the For Sale listings on Head-Fi - including the review.

 

Maybe a limp donger award, or for this the shriveled donger award. Don't think He Qinghua will be happy to get the plaque.

 

The "I swear it's the cold" schlong award would be a nice thing to have hanging around the workplace, remind people that QC matters.

 

I would actually suggest to keep it in the loaner, to (1) give people the chance to sample a really poor DAC so as to put in perspective the performance of good DACs, but also (2) to lend a helping hand to those who have trouble hearing differences between DACs. So yeah, for educational purposes this is something we might want to keep circulating.

After all the hoopla, I for one am very intrigued about this and would like to try it as well... Not unlike @atomicbob who wants take a stab at measuring the ugly beast.

 

I second that. Would be good ear training. I started with a Gungnir Multibit on the strength of recommendations here. Would be nice to hear the delta between this and a Gungnir Multibit.

LOL, I thought this was a $300-ish DAC, so I was thinking "what's the big deal, cheap chi-fi crap gonna sound like cheap chi-fi crap." Damn thing is more expensive than a Bifrost Multibit.

Yeah, trade it in for the "warm" version. Can't wait to see measurements on "warm". Gonna be fuzzier than my cat.

 

I like the "Shrinkage" award! For products coming out of the gate with big expectations, but then disappointing when actually viewed.

I had a gut feeling this was Chinese trash. I've been searching for a good deal to upgrade my 2chan setup and I considered this.. thank god I'm patient.

 

To reiterate, I would like the opportunity to measure, document and hear this "special" DAC before it has been discarded or destroyed.

 

Assuming @Marvey is okay with it, it probably makes sense to have me hand it off to you after I'm done with it (since I believe it is currently on it's way to me). I could pick up the Ross Martin unit from you, assuming that timing also works out, at the same time.

When the tour is wrapped up, I almost want to take this thing down with me on one of my dives to the little Buddha statue in Cove 2 at Seacrest Park (Alki Beach, Seattle), sit it next to the statue, put some headphones on him with a cord going to the DAC (I doubt anyone will say "Hey, that needs an amp too"), and a little sign on the S19 that says "Please don't steal me."

That, or post a picture of it at depth and have the sign say "If you can find me, you can have me".
