Install uBlock Origin, Ghostery, and AdBlock. White list a few sites you care about (like this one), then you get all that shit.

It's not that you posted here about them; it's that you visited those products on a shopping site (such as Amazon). There is a setting in your browser for "do not track" (the location is different for each browser, but it's the bottom checkbox on the Privacy tab in Safari's Preferences). Next time you visit Amazon that will keep it from collecting info on what you browse/are interested in.

It's also worth pointing out that the site you see the ads on is not tracking you; it's Amazon. Basically Amazon (or some other shopping site) has bought ad space on the website you're looking at. Your browser then makes a separate call to get an ad that's relevant to you. That call (and not the one that loaded all the rest of the site's content) then looks at your tracking data to pick an appropriate ad.

The "do not track" setting is not enforced. It is up to the individual website to honor it. I don't know what Amazon's posture is on it, but they aren't the only ones tracking.

Jeff....thanks much for the clarification...makes sense....When I buy bigger ticket items, I try to locate them out of my state (California) because we get hit here with almost 10% sales tax...a total ripoff!!! When I first became an Amazon Customer...18+ years ago... they never charged sales tax until the last couple of years. I bought my HD 650's in April of 2016 for $403 from Amazon

Makes sense. Bezos up to his billionaire tricks. I'll have to re-check my browser settings. Thought I had it set do not track. Maybe it defaulted when I upgraded iOS. Thanks.

There are tons of content blockers for iOS. They only work inside of Safari, though. Chrome and other browsers on iOS have their own content blockers or plugins. I do most of my shopping on my computer.

Thanks to all for your help. I know I can't prevent all this data collection, but I am doing my best Don Quixote impersonation anyway. Viva Freedom!

That's a good deal. But not if you live in U.S. I imagine the shipping and handling would raise the price. Maybe not. I just remember how much it cost to ship a 5oz piece of equipment from the Neatherlands. Crazy. And then it got lost for two weeks.

Yes, shipping costs in NL are really bad but you gotta remember how large DHL's network is around the globe. I sold my HD650 to someone in Australia and it cost something like 19 euros, and took a week or so to arrive if i remember correctly.. so not too much, and if someone here wants i could buy it and send it over

Oh my, you are tempting me. Must resist. I have to save up to upgrade my Gungnir to a MB first.

@nonamodnar ywah that's a really solid deal. I got the exact same deal with my classic 3 from another guy which is what twisted my arm into getting it!

That half shipping part is awesome. I'd bet over $200 to properly ship that super heavy Classic 3. But an even better deal for a Texas SBAFer maybe...
