Geek Wave final(?) development discussion - aka "please lord let it ship!"

Good news, but wonder where you received them if you then have to turn around and ship them to yourselves?

 

Jarek posted the following two days ago at the IGG campaign:

I have been informed the boards should be in our possession very soon (hand delivered from factory to Larry’s contact in Taiwan) and shipped to Roseville, CA for assembly. Many calls were made, many hours were put into resolving the factory situation. More information when I have it.

 

Oh!! I have to dig out my notes on two different Wave variants I bought!

 

Still have ZX-2 as well.

 

I don't even remember what I ordered any more.

It's like Days of our Lives where you go back a year later and it's only next week.

 

One of my early geek wave emails is from 6/7/2014.

Since that time LH now has "several good candidates" for a battery, screen, etc.

Yeah.

 

Given how many LH Labs projects are in the google cache on Indiegogo, it's odd that they seem to have been expunged from the site itself, even the archive pages. Heck, this tag on the blog comes up empty too (but does not 404):

Was there a reckoning? I know Indiegogo have more "relaxed" standards than Kickstarter, but still..

They really have been talking about the battery and screen for a long, long, long time.

 

Well... let's see when a final version of the (neverending) finalized specs of the Wave will be accomplished.

Part of the issue with the battery is that Larry is trying to get a particular type, and the manufacturers are very reluctant to make deals with us due to the size of our company. They're more interested in working with smartphone manufacturers. So Larry will be going back over there this month or next month to try to finalize that deal.

 

Add to that the "alignments" for the other open topics (screen, M2 storage, Bluetooth etc) and we are where when the production starts? 2020?

 

Understood. Just seems that process has been going on for some time and each remaining component is facing the same issue. So if each requires special trips to negotiate then and several months then it could go on for a really long time. Or maybe they just don’t deal with LHL for a price that can reasonably be paid by the company. Anyway, I know you’re just sharing info and you’re doing a good job of it. Just voicing what most people must be thinking.
