Few characters kind of sucks. But in all honesty it's not a huge deal to me, I played HoN (basically Dota 1.5) for like 5 years or something, it really is the lack of depths that's bothering. That and how retarded most ults are. Zarya presses Q anywhere even remotely close to anybody and everyone gets sucked in...

LOL, yeah, there are still some balance things to work through. Still, it came out of the gate being somewhat balanced...Skill ceiling could be higher, or so I perceive it that way.

It's funny, I used to play League of Legends, and even though it was all one map, same game type, it must have been the variety of characters that kept me going. Though, ultimately, I got tired of them constantly changing items, adding characters so quickly, and thus leading to meta changes I'd have to re-learn any time I fell out of the game for a few months.

I was tentatively interested in the ps4 pro, the psvr or the Scorpio but f**k all that noise I'm getting the Switch. They literally made the exact console for someone like me with kids and no time. The ideal world is now PC gaming + switch for me.

The Switch is certainly creative. Oddly enough though, I felt nothing watching the unveiling. Only thing that really interests me about it at this point is the news that From Software is a development partner.

I'll probably get a VR for my b-day. Mostly interested in it for Rez and RE7. Just hope it doesn't make me nauseated within five minutes...

Except, you know, people who are paying attention. In any case, if you get a $&^%£* Rhein in your suck, it pretty much ruins it anyway. Zarya's ult is one of the easier ones to avoid, playing against skilled players (sadly, as I enjoy playing Zarya for the joy of setting fire to Hanzos and so forth).

There's a surprising amount of depth, but it's all emergent from the gameplay, with weird new twists on jump comps and other odd stuff like that.

It's a shame that the supply of content is so slow- though it's usually super-polished when it does land. It looks like the PTR is going to be used to try out more "out there" changes soon, rather than do last-minute bug fixes, so hopefully things are going to be mixed up a bit.

I played it a bit. It was nice but the Vive experience is so much better. I am going to wait until next gen.

I love my Nintendo games but it takes ages to finish them due to no time to play on the console til the chores are done and everyone is in bed by 8 or 9. Most nights I have work so that's kind of nuked if I want to spend time with my wife.

Really, being able to play the flagship Nintendo games on the go is super compelling to me.

I really want the Switch not to suck, and to have a decent first-party catalogue on launch day. If it launches with Zelda and Mariokart* right away, it could be hard to resist.

    * A decent Mariokart with actual racing like the SNES, N64, Cube or DS version, rather than the bland and random rubber band handicapping-happy Wii version...

Meh, Mario kart 8 is my favorite. It's fun as hell for my daughter and I. I'd take that.

Honestly, if they deliver breath of the wild and Skyrim, Mario kart, 2d Mario or a 3d Mario, I'll be picking one up day one.

Hah, I had to google which one that was.. apparently the Wii-U. Now I know two Wii-U owners!

I have a bit of a history of picking up Nintendo consoles for specific games- the N64 for Ocarina Of Time, the cube for Windwaker.. I can't remember what made me buy the DS.. I have a horrid suspicion that it was Animal Crossing. Really hoping the Switch takes off, the Wii-U must have hurt their finances badly.

Have it pre-installed for tonight. I anticipate playing it a lot the next few months, along with Warframe which has been my go-to since the summer (anyone play that BTW?)

I played it in beta and after release quite a lot, but it got too buggy and grindy for me after a while- and all of my favourite frames got nerfed to the ground, to try and make people pony up for "boosts" to score new ones.. so I got cynical and bailed.

A shame, I really wanted to like it- so pretty, robot space ninjas and randomly-generated dungeons, could have been designed for me.

Yeah the grindy aspect of it kinda appeals to me in a way, when I'm in the mood to just relax. I've done pretty well without spending a ton of real money, but after a couple hundred hours I am starting to run out of stuff to do and I can see myself waning off it, especially with Civ out now. PoochZag is my handle, add me if you or anyone else picks it back up

If I ever do, I will- as there seems to be only one global server cluster!

I'm kinda doing the same with the "pick up and play" nature of casual mindless Overwatch-ing. I'm scared of getting into any Civ game, as they look slightly too absorbing and addictive.. I've seen what they've done to others :)

A few hours into Civ6, and it's a mixed bag for me. Combat is really the only viable strategy right now, and that's boring. If I wanted combat stuff, I'll go back to Paradox games. Meh, they'll fix it with DLC eventually, time to set it aside for 6 months and get back to Dota2.

Same, played for 80 minutes and got a refund through Steam. There are some interesting mechanics like districts and government policies that were refreshing but ultimately the graphics and UI were a huge step backwards from 5. The game looks and feels bland to play, 1 tile a turn snooze-fest city sieges haven't been improved on one bit. But then again I am firmly in the unit stacking is a good thing camp.

I understand that they were bored of people slamming doom stacks against each other, and wanted to reward tactical thinking, but that's not the Civ way. It also seems like they were tired of like 2-4 cities getting everything special, and the rest just kind of sitting there are being used to produce the units needed/science/tech/world project points. A lot of the changes seem to be trying to force development of more cities, but they slowed down the city development so much that it made everything tedious. On the bright side, they realized how crap religions were in civ5, so they fleshed out the religion system a bit more. There's hope, but only if they respond well to the feedback that they're going to get.

The thing that is so great about the Switch, is that now Nintendo's entire worlwide development studios are working on a single platform. They are no longer torn between making games for two systems.

About the 3rd party talk. Nintendo's home consoles have always gotten bad 3rd party support since the N64, however their handhelds have always had fantastic 3rd party support. Those same companies that were making games for Nintendo handhelds will likely continue doing so, we can just play them on the big screen now if we want.

Personally I am already sold on the Switch. I buy Nintendo handhelds every generation to play Pokemon and fire emblem for the last 25 years, not about to stop now. This time though I get the awesome bonus of having a home console bundled with it. The concept is really cool. I get a lot of downtime at the office, now I can bring Skyrim with me.

I'll never get used to seeing a Bethesda game on a Nintendo console in cartridge form, so cool!

Why is domination the only viable strategy? Just curious, I haven't played enough yet to find out for myself.

A combination of higher production costs, less efficient production scaling in mid game, aggressive cost scaling on unit purchases, and more aggressive AI result is making it very hard to focus on anything except conquest. Another thing is that they made it almost mandatory to build your city on a river, since that gives you a higher starting housing limit. This makes large portions of the map effectively no mans land. In order to win with culture and science, you need a lot of cities but it's just not easy to fast expand in the current state of the game. Score is all about surviving until the end, so you still need military. Religion with more than 3 AI is really hard, and is asking for you to get caught up in wars anyhow.

Basically, play Rome if there's less than 5 other civs, play Gilgamesh if there's more.
