I skipped it for my K181. That bass-boost is well done and I can switch between mono and stereo on the fly. But yeah the HD25 is pretty good.

Yeah, I had a pair of K181 ages ago that I got in a sale for like £20- useful spare at that silly price. A little hard on the ears though, squashed them mercilessly.

I bought mine from Thomann I think. Either way parts are always available for these DJ headphones. The ear pads make or break most headphones.

Ignore the bit about the pads- I was thinking of something else!

Spring Mod? Does it alleviate the death clamp?!

No, they're tiny springs inside the HD-25 cups which the pins of the connectors (that I incorrectly called spade connectors before) mate with. It's for the intermittent connection that you get after a while.

While you're at it there's a mod for removing the foam baffles behind the driver and lining the earcups with dynamat that I think sounds better, and if you can source the pads Sennheiser made for the hd-25 aluminum they are the best.

I'd rather not bugger them about, I sometimes need them for live sound use, so knowing the peculiarities of how they should sound is important. They need to be interchangeable with the other pairs.

Ya it does change it noticeably, one of the things I wound up having to do on mine when I changed to the gold springs was clip off the piece at the end that is bent 90 degrees to get the cables to seat correctly. It was absolutely bewildering figuring that out. You probably won't have that problem, good luck anyways.
