Thankfully headphones are more of a solitary experience as, I’ll be honest, hunching over can get a mite inconvenient when listening to music.
Because using the power of the sun to run my gear via solar panels is really a must in this day and age, but absolutely only when it’s shining out of my ass. That subsonic bass and those magical transients are just so, so worth it.
Audiophile electric poles and mental illness inducing LPS nervosa aside (what a messy way to ruin an elegant audio setup), I do think from time to time to buy a power regenerator, but either has a fan inside (hello PS Audio) or is inconvenient/overpriced compared to it's country of origin (hello Accuphase) or needs 1 million hours of "burn in" (hello Audio-GD) pt1
Hell, to add insult to the injury, I would need 2 power regenerators if buying from Accuphase or Audio-GD (I need 4 usable schuko outlets)..the stars aligned and want dirty power for me :) pt2/end of rant
In the vein of Gilbert U-238 Atomic Energy Laboratory, nothing short of L'il Home Nuclear Reactor will deliver absolutely indisputable best performance. (yes that toy did exist.)
I think it's funny that of all the insane tweaks in the world I've never heard audiophiles mention balanced power even once. Used in some studio environments with crappy power. http://www.equitech.com/articles/bpng.html
Several of the studios in which I've worked have balanced power. Usually a really big Sola transformer in an isolated room and all those outlets are color coded. Requires licensed electrician with appropriate knowledge and inspector again with appropriate knowledge. Educating an inspector is not something you want to undertake.
I don't know how anyone can be content with cheap single-phase gear. I can't explain the technical stuff, but if you want smooth, maintained power from a motor, you go for three-phase, right? Well of course that works for audio too. Especially for amplifiers of 2hp and above.
