Only if the aliens find it in the next few hundred years. But they would almost be in our solar system at that point. If anyone does find us I think they would take one look, turn around and go to Warp 10.
It's that pulsars sweep out their radiation in a thin disc. As soon as you move out of the disc, the pulsar disappears from view. The only place where all the pulsars on the map are simultaneously viewable /is/ our solar system; we can't see the others; and aliens in other places can't see the pulsars that point at us.
It works right now, but it turns out that pulsars change frequency and the direction of their pulsing beam over time so by the time aliens might pickup the Voyagers the 14 pulsars on the records map would be useless. And it’s estimated there are a billion of them in the Milky Way. None of this was known in 1977. Possibly the worst way to help them find us. But radio signals are another thing.
+1 @insidious meme, I get lost at school all the time on a campus I've had over a year to figure out. Earthlings be lost in the grand vacuum of the cosmos.
Damnit, where is Ensign Chekhov when you need him. I would be back home by now if @Kunlun hadn’t jettisoned the warp core when he thought it caught on fire. It was a bagel he put in the microwave for 10 minutes. I’m over it now. But listening to these shitty Earth transducers does get tiring. Especially when you have to pretend to like them just to fit in.
