Sonos' play:1 and new play:5 are completely unable to render strings. Forgrt harmonics, fundamentals sound like they're coming from a tin can.

Had a listen to the WAND series at Riva's HQ and I'm dumping everything but my HT and philharmonic speakers and using their wireless components.

$249 each for the Wand 100 is insane too. Definitely going to build multi-room audio around the WAND series components.

I am a big fan of Sonos and was an early adopter who back then was worried about their continued existence and was surprised to find them such a dominant player in the space some 10 years on. But I use it only for streaming into my own speakers. I have never listened to their Play speakers but I would not expect too much.

I have five Sonos connects, one connect amp, two play 1s, and one play 5. with the exception of my main speakers and my home theater, the WAND speakers beat everything else.

Curious what are you using as a DAC between the Connect and your main speakers. And do you use Toslink or coax. Anything else in between the Sonos and your amp.
