For slightly more money, I recommend Meermin. They make great shoes that hold up well over time and are super comfy.
I decided early on to go with black leather Adidas Stan Smiths in all work-type situations. Easy to get away with in a creative field. I do have a pair of Ecco dress shoes I've been wearing as needed for over 10 years. Very sturdy and comfortable.
I'm all for contributing to a thread on this topic. I personally wear either Aldens or Barrie shoes at the office. There are some great deals out there on e-bay or goodwill shops.
Custom orthotics will make most dress shoes very comfortable. Look into Edward Green shoes, if Paul Stuart still stocks them.
