The King Crimson effect: no longer feel like listening to music. That album is too amazing. No words, just silence...

This was the first ever KC album that I was introduced to when I was probably 6 or 7. The cover drew me in and I loved the music. I've been a KC fan ever since.

They were making truly interesting and progressivel music through the 90's and maybe into the 00's. It seems like much of their concert output on the current tour now is playing their old songs. Fripp always seemed to resent that idea but they are really nailing those old songs FWIW. Their current vocalist has a great voice for them.

Yeah - I have a job like that. One time I went to bed at 2100 in the evening and woke up 1500 the next day. Guess I had some catching up to do. Lol. But I guess it's good in a way, let the body recover.

No but you've reminded me of a couple of other songs that were automatic for me in particular situations - in high school when I was snow-skiing I would compulsively replay the song Coming Down the Mountain by Jane's Addiction in my head. 1/2

And in college I guess you could say I had a "theme song" that I would play on my stereo any time I called a chick to ask her out. It was Medeski, Martin and Wood's song, "Where's Sly?" As I learned many years later both of these compulsions were probably a product of OCD. 2/2

If someone's too stupid to see what's wrong, not only are they not going to learn anything from the dogpiling, but it's just going to make everything look more shitty than it would anyway. That's a worse outcome for all of us, as you still have the original stupidity and a ton of extra noise and unpleasantness too. It's inefficient.

Agree with both of you to some extent. Dogpiling raises SNR, yes...but it's also fun. An environment (forum) w/o fun is rigid utopia. We're humans with emotion (including noises), not objective robots/AI. That, in addition to warn unaware randos.

That said, the dogpiling is much much lesser than old times, which is also good. It's about finding perfect balance.

Even the hulk has manners and he is a fictional grey/green comic book hero who is soft spoken but looks dangerous. In the end everybody likes him for his kind nature.

Some basic manners can make monsters and oddities welcome guests. This also applies to people. When do randos get it?
