Fwiw, I had the Fiio X3ii. Same dac chip as Leck UHA 6S-Mkii. The X3ii sounded indistinguishable to me when amped through the Leck as straight from the Leck.

@imackler Sounds like Mr. turtle's goal is to avoid the DAC in the Leckerton and use as amp only if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks for the info! And you're both right - I do aim to use the Leck as amp only, which is why it's handy to know that the chain sounds similar both ways. God I love the Leck.

Yeah, Leck as amp is the way to go. @MrTurtle was thinking that. I just figured it would help to know the Fiio X3ii was not an upgrade.

I have a Leck and a FiioX3ii. Good combo. If you don't need a digital out, the FiioX1ii is cheaper and a little softer up top by some accounts.

Thanks for the info! Currently considering Grahad's ZX100 recommendation in the DAP thread, but a used one goes for double the price of the other options where I am. If anyone has tried any Shanlings with line outs, would love to hear your thoughts.

I've been quite satisfied with my M1. Vansen has mentioned that he felt it was too rolled off. It's pretty cheap to buy one secondhand and see what you think.

Yup, was considering M1 but it doesn't seem to have a proper line out mode. M2S has been on the list in its place (thanks @Mshenay for the impressions!) but am hoping for a 2nd or 3rd opinion. May jump on a ZX100 if I get impatient.
