Chase is very easy to work with for a large commercial bank.

Never had any issues with Chase across the various LA neighborhoods I’ve lived in

Why bother with a bank that charges you for the privilege of taking your money? Get a credit-union membership. Mobile deposit and CO-OP network. Unless you need to deposit cash a lot or need commercial services. I've been a banking lawyer for 20+ years and I'd never recommend a bank for basic checking/savings.

Plenty of ATM locations: Chase or Wells Fungus. If CU, be prepared to pay up the wazoo if you use non-CU ATMs regularly. All banks are evil. That is the nature of the business.

sfocit, I'll dump a chunk of cash in an account and live off of it for a couple of years, so don't need much services. I'll research credit unions.

Thanks everyone for affirming that at the least, I can go to Chase.

If you are just going to withdraw cash and don't need a physical bank, what about Charles Schwab? There may not be many physical locations, but you can use any ATM without fees.

One thing I do need is someone to receive a fairly decent sized wire from a Canadian bank. As we agreed to about a 3 week closing, I'm scrambling to get the house empty and...

...make arrangements to move internationally. It'll probably be Chase if only for them being quick, easy, and familiar with ATM access being one of my few considerations.

I do appreciate and will research the other options though when things are less of a scramble.

Go with a CU that has a branch close to you. Don't need an ATM that way. They can handle wire transfers. Banks are corrupt entities. Look at all the fines they have to pay.
