Yeah, canned air won't work, speaking from experience.
If you can't get it off with a brush it's probably better to let it be. Better a dusty tweeter than a broken one.
You could also use some tape (make sure it's not too sticky) and try to get it off that way. More risky, but also more effective. If you do it right, it shouldn't damage the tweeter at all, just be sure the tape isn't too sticky.
OK, ill try with a light brush, maybe some tape, after that, ill give up. Right now every part of these speakers are covered in dust. Just worried about the soft domes. I need to put new banana jacks in this, replace the crossovers, possibly a new surround on the woofer, new grill cloth, and just clean them.
Seriously though, for the absolute finest tweeter-dome-cleaning experience you absolutely MUST purchase the Audio Quest Diamond Series Dome Massager. Only $999.95 at the finest audio outlets.
Since you don't have the girl yet, you could buy a make-up brush. They are cheap enough. It was one of the first things I thought of. I use one to between vents and other hard to dust small areas in the car. Soft enough, but not too soft. (I don't like to use things to dust and then put them back for my girlfriend to clean herself with.:))
