Put it on extra long tapes on big spools, just to guarantee that you'll spend far more time looking for your music than listening to it. Some of it you may never, ever find again!
Before computers and editing, back in the day when turntables were simply the main way to play music, I used to record scratched records to cassette. The reduced dynamic range took away a little of the pain, and all the worry about chunks being chipped off the stylus
Early 70's, had a BBC News friend who brought a Nagra portable home. Absolutely one of the most wonderful things I have ever touched! I sometimes see Air India recording concerts with Nagra digital boxes. Even they are about $4k each. The tape machines probably sell as antique artworks now
@DigMe, the Nagra I saw was certainly pocketable. But that would have got my friend into a lot of trouble. I'm wondering, now, what sort of portable power source it had. I either didn't find out, or have forgotten. Ti-ger, perhaps.
