    Greetings

Anyone who know good addresses for cables? I'm looking for quality, but at a fair price. E.g. for my HD650, I can't for the world find good reasons without barfing why a good balanced cable would cost as much as this splendid piece of engineering itself...

What about the offerings on amazon.de for instance?

Also looking for an adapter 4-pin XLR to stereo jack, so I don't constantly have to switch cables when switching between my SE and balanced amps.

    Thx!

I have been really happy with the cables made by this guy:

    http://www.ebay.com/usr/amplifier_surgery?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2754

    His email is:

    [email protected]

He made me 10 ft XLR cable for my Sennheiser HD 650 headphones terminated with a 4-pin male XLR connector for $109. The cable is shielded silver plated OFC.

I also bought some 1.5 meter balanced interconnects fro my Yggdrasil/Mjolnir 2 stack for $89. Again, the cables are shielded silver plated OFC.

They are not super expensive and used quality Neutrik connectors. I like them quite well.

I've also purchased from Impact. Very pleased with quality, price and look. He does take 3 to 4 weeks to deliver (I'm also fairly close in Waco). Also, you can talk to user @fraggler here about making you a cable.

I have a cable from Impact and a cable from fraggler.

Very pleased with both and highly recommended.

#9 and Blue Jeans Cables hasn't been mentioned?

Not sure this needed to be a new thread, really. One can search for cable info galore on SBAF already.

I really did a lot of searches on SBAF first... I've had better answers now already than in hours of reading... thanks for that! Could be my (lack of) searching skills as well of course. And they're usable answers... without tens or hundreds of dollars head-fi fee or snake oil on top. Doesn't hurt to have a concise thread on this matter as I see it... this actually helps people, especially on one of the very few places that protects its people from the usual rip-off practices in the audiophile world by just frankly pointing out the bare truth and the real value of gear.

For custom cables that aren't headphone cables I highly recommend Redco.

Very reasonable prices, the web interface for designing your cable is great, fast service, and they will wire stuff to whatever crazy pinout you specify.

I agree it's good to have a concise thread with this information, it's kind of scattered around in various places at the moment.

I went with this. He was responsive to my inquiries about sleeving options and I just received the cable yesterday. The shipping date was true to the estimate when I first placed the order (three week turnaround). Very quality work. Red looks great, braiding is well done. Glad I went for the splitter, it looks nice. Got the Eidolic TeCu XLR and it feels really nice. Can't tell if it's placebo but it does seem to have a little more juice than I remember from my previous XLR experience. Regardless, very handsome, high-quality cable that will coil easily and last a long time if I ever need to pass it on. Glad I "measured twice, bought once" - no need to upgrade past this. Got all the cosmetics and fancy materials out of my system in one go, and for a two-digit price.

Recently got a Periapt cable for HD650, has some microphonics and no else I can blame. They sound quite good with good tonality (opens up the soundstage a bit and bass feels more tight. Overall it sounds pretty smooth and I like how it synerges with HD650.), looks ok, connectors and jack are very nicely built and connected, and it has a splitter coming with it, very good construction although it wouldn't look premium, it looks 'satisfying'. Recommending it.
