Anime Spring season 2017 is GO and it actually looks less f'ing terrible than the previous two ones! Fall '16 was saved by JoJo but apart from that it was a looong dry spell. Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon was like the only memorable thing I watched.

Anyway, Syl Picks for this season:
    • Attack on Titan season 2
    • Boku no Hero Academia season 2
    • Berserk season 2 - maaaaybe
    • Clockwork Planet - Kinda like Chobits but on a WH40k-esque forge planet? I dunno, at least the setting sounds good enough.
    • Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka Gaiden: Sword Oratoria - it's dungeon crawling in a labyrinth city with fighter princesses
    • Re:Creators - You know like when someone writes stories they're basically gods for characters they created? Okay so now imagine everyone is a creator but of the IRL world
    • Sagrada Reset - A gurl with an ability of resetting the world three days into the past and a boi with the ability of being the only person to remember what would happen doing that time solve mysteries
    • Sakura Quest - Imagine the nation of Molossia's tourism department, except it's five girls in a tiny japanese village in bumfuck nowhere
    • Warau Salesman NEW - Remember that episode of Rick & Morty with the devil salesman? That's it but more

awwww yea didn't know we had an anime thread! Wife just started working so I've finally got the time to watch again. Warau Salesman sounds good, and I'll be running through Attack on Titan when it finishes. Till then I'm finishing up Durarara!! X2 didn't know it 36 episodes :/

@Deep Funk Ghost in the Shell is always worth a proper re watch, I re-watched the original OVA after I saw the Live Action adaptation... the life action movie was alright, but I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed the original film!

It's awesome and definitely the best thing to come from Summer Season 2017.

Except that one anime about Vatican CSI.

Besides Castlevania...what else is worth watching Summer 2017? I wasn't too impressed from Spring 2017.

I posted that before the season started, kinda a short walkthru of what I find interesting enough to try out lmao. I dropped it p. quickly along with Re: Creators and Attack on Titan.

Summer '17 isn't much to write home about either, the only things I'm watching this season are Vatican Miracle Examiners and Boku no Hero Academia. That one's a continuation tho so it might not count!

I have been watching the new Berserk series. The story is mostly true to the manga but the 3D animation is almost terrible. Keep it at 720P for your own good.

Now I am watching "Mobile Suit Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans." It combines elements of the previous series from the first series to the recent ones with a very complex yet interesting plot. Also every key character is uniquely individual with back stories and reasons why. I mean the hero fighter is a professional killer child soldier and the villain is shar/char-like with noble intentions and the "Relena Peacecraft/princess" character actually has guts.

Seriously, this new Gundam series is surprisingly good and yes the mecha-battles still look like choreographies of killer robot destruction, just beautiful.

I am nerding out, this series is that good.

Ok, so Netflix actually made Death Note into a movie.

    Guess what.

    It didn't suck.

Rewatching an old favourite just now, Ai Yori Aoshi. Rather looking forward to reminiscing, haha.

In other news, following quite a few series this season. Favourites would include Princess Principal and Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e. Also surprised Saiyuki got a new season. Huh.

    EDIT:
Shit, I forgot Owarimonogatari was also airing! Gah, really hope they adapt Zokuo down the line, heck, even Monster Season is slated to air so they'd better.

Speaking of Monster, I was a kid when the 2004 anime aired so I don't think I got to appreciate it all that much but might give it a shot now that I can supposedly appreciate it a bit more. Any fans of the series? Think it also got a live action adaptation, but that one completely went under the radar.

I might check out "Monster." I read parts of the manga first and it is really dark.

From what I remember the animation was well done for it's time. Good music too, come to think of it.

We need more series like that on the air (even though I'm far from above watching trashy anime to unwind) :))

Finished reading the LN of Kumo desu ga, nani ka? after almost 2 weeks of ultra binge reading. Then followed up with Nanana's Buried Treasure and some Made in Abyss / New Game!! lurking. Next week's episodes are definitely going to be good.

Tsurezure children is next on the chopping block as a re-watch of Space Patrol Luluco. I'm trying to cut back on the anime OST's because they're bleeding me dry, but they're all so cute I can't stop.

Recently I randomly started watching Yu Yu Hakusho.

Sometimes I am just too curious. I love this series. It is better than most series I have watched. That gritty yet expressive 2D art style, the wacky story with factors like "because magic", "because powers" and "because world order" while Yusuke actually gets his ass kicked at the amusement of beautifully complex characters like Hiei.

Did I mention the soundtrack? It is awesome. I checked out some episodes on Youtube first. I might just get the DVDs and start binging.

ERASED is one of those series I have no qualms recommending to people who aren't anime fans. The story is excellent, and the show is really very well done (the manga had a better resolution, but then again, it didn't have to cram everything into ~12 episodes' worth of runtime).

Yesterday I looked up a new action anime. Then I stumbled on Gundam Unicorn. That has been on my list for a long time.

I finished the series just before midnight. It was so worth it. The plot progresses where the first Gundam series "Mobile Suit Gundam" with Amuro and Shar/Char left and is kind of predictable with all the Gundam tropes. Thing is the conclusion is beautiful and the references to the first series are a treat for an old-taku Gundam fan. 22 episodes on Crunchyroll so doable.

The best part is something unexpected for me. The soundtrack is really special. There is an orchestral score for this series and the use of melodies, themes and tones throughout this series baffled me. Check this out:

    This cheers me up...
