Anyone heard the Apogee Groove? and Suggestions

as the title says has anyone heard the Apogee Groove i was thinking of getting something when i go back in Vacations i go for a few months each year back home so my goal is to either bring with me this time some setup that will be a good value budget build for there in the meanwhile so i was thinking of getting the apogee as the reviews that i have seen are good

MY headphone is the Hd800 and it has apogee actually recommends with it

so my other option would be to get a modi and magni uber stack or get this so let me know what i should do or something similarly priced let me know suggestions

 

I have both the Groove and M2 stack. Honestly, the M2 stack may be a bit better technically, but I enjoy the Groove more. The Magni is pretty neutral leaning towards bright as far as I'm can tell. The Groove is warmer to me than the M2 stack (probably because it's a current mode amp). Sounds a bit more dynamically compressed than the Schiit stack, maybe a bit less resolving although I may be wrong.

Looking at the HD800 impedance curve, the Groove should boost the bass a bit, which would help the HD800 signature. On the other hand the M2 stack's comparative brightness will accentuate the HD800's negative qualities.

Looks like it may behave differently than typical current-drive amplifiers (which may minimize the "bass boost" effect @JewBear was describing).

 

Well it does sound thicker than my M2 stack so that would seem to be constant current effect.

 

I have a brand new, unopened groove if you're interested.

I went big vs small, and ended up with a monster schiit stack.

 

A bit of a necro but I've definitely noticed that the groove seems to boost the bass a bit on my PM-3 vs my other amps. I wonder if there's some EQ going on. Any engineers have any thoughts on what the geek may be doing?

 

I noticed with the groove that it's adding about 150ms of latency compared to other xmos usb based solutions. Maybe there is some processing going on i don't know, or it's just a linux quirk. Should try windows some time...

Also, anyone tried this with something like a wyrd or some other decrapifier? Sounds better to my ears with clean power going in to it.
