    I thought I'd post my portable setup that is working well.

    Apple Iphone 6+ -> Apple Camera Adapter -> J5Create 4port powered USB Hub -> Apogee Groove -> HD650
    Anker PowerCore 10400------^

    The combination works great. I chose the J5Create JUH340 due to its size. It's the smallest powered hub that I could find and it's almost identical in size to the Apogee Groove. They band together nicely.

    that's portable? 4 cables before you even reach the headphone jack?

    It's portable in that it's not connected to a wall and fits in backpack or briefcase easily.

    It is admittedly not the preferred solution.

    I got it with the HD650 Bundle that Adorama ran a while back. I was going to sell it and get a geekout v2+ or HA-2 but I figured Id give it a shot. I needed a semi portable solution for when I'm not near my computer.

    yah I understand that battle of finding "true mobility" and quality audio delivery.

    closest I've gotten:
    iPhone/iPad --> Onkyo HF Player-->GOV2+Inf-->balanced IEMs or balanced HE400s.

    still, there's 2 cables in the link to GOV2+, and ergonomics while moving around are not ideal.
    CEntrance Skyn product may have ergonomics solved but doubt it can beat the GOV2+ models.

    I'm exactly in this situation right now, I know there is a lot of talk regarding constant current amps and boosting levels due to high impedance, but apparently Apogee has engineered a solution to that. How good that implementation is, i'm not entirely sure, and hopefully we'll find out soon when someone like Tyll or a forum member measures the FR of the HD650's w/Groove and FR of the HD650's with a SS.

    I'm currently listening to the Groove right now on my HD650's. Very curious to try it out vs my 02/ODAC when that arrives. I can say one thing, this thing has insane power. Very pleased so far.

    This post on gearslutz is interesting.

    We highly recommend this combo, as you will see in most of our advertising - the Sennheiser HD800s are just incredible headphones and one of the reference sets used while designing Groove. The sound quality through the Groove is fantastic.
