Are Audeze really that bad quality-wise?

I think LCD2 fazors have undergone some type of sonic change, maybe tied to the rumored new films Audeze has to stop driver failures

    http://www.head-fi.org/t/509710/audeze-lcd-2-impressions-thread/7005#post_12142865

Just for ease of reposting, the graphs on the last and second to last page compare 2 cases of late 2015 fazor vs late 2014/early 2015 fazor. From the threads, apparently tly the drivers have changed late 2015

The changes in subbass, early, smoother 1k roll off, and less subdued trble seem too consistent to write off to inconsistencies

I sent my June 2015 manufactured LCD2.2F's back to Audeze for repair, due to weak left driver's bass. Got this back last week...

Hahahaha...so how does the new one sound?

Nope. I thought they sounded kind of off, and when I got my DIY measurement rig, I measured them 5 times consecutively to make sure that the left driver had a good seal. Close to the same measurement every time. I emailed Audeze to see if they will provide a new FR graph (I have the old one), If they provide it, I'll post both of them.

Seems that the diaphragms are tighter on the repair, I can hear them (kind of like a plastic bag when crinkled) when I push the cups against my head (pressure forcing them out)... Hmmmmmm

Initially they sounded a little harsh in the treble, but have started to smooth out. Constant A/B/X with my HD650's and T20Rp's...

Those actually look good except for Audeze hole in the ground upper mids. Does it have a soundstage? Strings and electric guitars could get wonkier if it does.

I'm also getting the driver flex effect that you describe. I hope they remain tense,
Soundstage is better than the 2 other fazors I've previously had. This is the most balanced fazor I've had so far, definitely the best sounding

Audeze got back to me with my new factory FR...

    Hope they last longer |\/|

If not, they will walk the plank and be sold at HF after they get fixed, if there is a next time (hopefully not...)

Be sure to save your impulse response files over time. Would be interesting to see if the ortho wall moves to a lower frequency (sign of diaphgram tension loosening).

Ya, I save all my measurements for reference.

What exactly do you mean by ortho wall moving to a lower frequency? Do you think the loosening is because of the diaphragm stretching over time, or the what ever it's bonded to, loosening (the edges of the diaphragm)?

The sound of the diaphragm moving as I started to adjust them to my melon last week immediately struck me as different sounding. I really never noticed that sound before...

You can try without a solid-coupler (just foam) for less air cushion / seal to better see the "ortho-wall".

No, no, the auduze deckard is not anywhere close to being expensive enough to do the led-2 any justice .

At the bare minimum, I'd recommend the audiu gd He9: http://www.audio-gd.com/HE/HE-9/HE-9EN.htm

Stepping up a bit and you can get the simon audio moon 430hp: http://www.simaudio.com/en/product/37-headphone-amplifier.html

But if you really want to do the lep-2 justice, you should spring for the Apex Pineapple: http://www.ttvjaudio.com/Apex_High_Fi_Pinnacle_p/aaa0001000.htm

Or even the Wu Audio WA234: http://234mono.com/

    Hope that help

Talking about the Wu Audio WA234:
"THE EXTRAORDINARY LEVELS OF FIT AND FINISH OF THE CURVY, MACHINED-ALUMINUM CHASSIS ARE ON PAR WITH THE WORLD'S VERY BEST ELECTRONICS."

Well, no shit. I'd better be.

I didn't know electronics were supposed to be round like breasts. Square lego breasts would be quite peculiar.
