I was pleasantly surprised by Audeze customer service.

In April of 2015, I bought a pair of LCD-X's used off Head-FI. At the end of Aug this year, the right cup stopped working. After making sure it was not a cable or amplifier problem, I isolated the problem to the headphone. These are my favorites, so I was prepared to flip the bill to have them fixed, assuming that it did not cost more than another set of equivalent performance cans.

Emailed Audeze to start a fix. They looked up my serial number and said to send them in, since it was still under warranty. I was surprised, since I did not buy them new from an authorized dealer. Sent them in on 2 Sep, and got them back today 13 Sep.

They replaced both drivers(left and right) with new ones. With that new driver smell. They also restarted the 3 year warranty clock. I did not hear a difference(to me ears... sorry almost forgot the mandatory audio weasel words) in the new drivers from the old ones.

Audeze is actually pretty good with their warranty. My friend noticed that his used LCD3 had a channel imbalance and he contacted Audeze who exchanged his old drivers for new ones since they were still under warranty.

Soon after, I got him to sell the LCD3 and buy speakers instead .

    LMAO

You sure they didn't spray canned new car smell on your headphones?

Now that you write that, it did remind me of that new car spray they sell at Autozone. :)

One has to be buying Audezes to even learn what a new driver smells like.

The warranty is transferrable, which is why it doesn't matter if you bought used or new, or from an authorized dealer or not. As long as they were originally sold from an authorized dealer, the warranty clock starts at the time of the first sale.
In my experience, Audeze sends you brand new headphones when you send one in for a warranty issue. Like new serial number and everything.
