I am looking forward to this meet, but I have no idea if this is going to be more of a member focused meet where everyone brings rigs or a MOT based meet where there is only a small group of member rigs. Obviously I'm hoping for the latter.

It would be pretty sweet if we get a SBAF dinner together for afterwards.

Finally, I'm annoyed as shit that we have to buy tickets for the meet. I'm fine with making a donation for the room, but it feels like these HF-sponsored meets are becoming more and more of a profit deal. I'm sure they charge the MOTs a hell of a lot more to come than they do us members.

Thanks for the heads up velvet. I don't follow head fi, but I've been looking forward to going to a meet in the south bay. Hopefully I'll make it to this one.

    Did you mean the former?

If this turns into a mainly-vendor show, I doubt I'll bother bringing anything. Likely including me.

The last few major HF-official meets have been MOT events, but they were in hotels. The Wikia office doesn't have as many large conference rooms, though I guess the long hallway can be set up with quite a few booths.

Hey man, yah seems like this may be another more vendor focused show. Would love to see and hang out with you though.

I put a post on on HF to ask.

If it is like the Summer HF meet from last year where members were interspaced between MOTs I'd be fine and I'd bring good gear to show off.

If it is MOT dominated I think I might ask for a refund.

I spoke with Ethan and it seems like he will be visiting Wikia and getting things worked out. However, this will have member featured rigs.

    Hope that helps ease some.

I think I'm out on the July HF meet. There has been little from the meet organizers to make me think that member rigs are going to be a prominent part of that meet.

They've either totally dropped the ball on member tables or they just don't view them as a big a deal as the MOT tables. Either way, I requested a refund.

Maybe we should plan another SBAF summer mini meet?

Wow. The HF mods deleted my post in the meet thread. I'm honestly disappointed.

I think they were trying to save you from the unbridled fury of another Stillhart ultimatum about how it isn't about member rigs.

I'm headed up sometime this summer to visit four or five clients. Probably late July or early August.

Or the super lame excuse of hobbyists not bringing their rigs - which didn't seem to be a problem in 2012, 2013, 2014 when people here organized some big meets in the Bay Area.

Heh, not only was my post deleted (with no explanation given) I also have been banned from even viewing the thread let alone posting in it.

Who the hell is running things over there?

I submitted a report asking for an explanation.

TBF, the HF organizers don't know how much emphasis to give to member rigs until they know how many members request tables (thus showing substantial commitment). That said, swinging the ban hammer doesn't send the most encouraging signals in the conversation... I'm reconsidering attending (unless I see, e.g., Frank Cooter sign up as he did last year — we had a really great conversation).

A smaller no-MOT meet would be cool.

No. Turns out I have a commitment in LA this weekend (that predates the meet announcement) anyway. Now I'm slightly annoyed I won't be able to check out the new Focals, though they'll probably be mobbed.

I did finish the Carbon build I hoped to get done before the meet, and it's sweet. I hope there's a smaller enthusiast-rigs-only Bay Area event soon (and I don't have another scheduling conflict), as I'll definitely bring it.
