I went with a tube dac (Havana) to a ss amp (KSA-5 Klone) with the HE560 (Jerg Focus Pads) and I am really enjoying them at the moment.

I folded and just ordered a Lyr 2 and some Orange Globes. Too much good advice around here to ignore, and my kids are good at not touching hot things :).

Ahhh, so we brow beat you into it finally :p J/K. That should be a great choice, you can't go wrong with the choice of real tubes or those LISSTy things.

That sounds great, I am almost certainly in for the Nashville meet. Unfortunately, I will be in New York when Canlanta is going on.

Ah, I see. Good move, I got the V200 after my Bottlehead Crack but the Crack still gets plenty of use. Love that tubey goodness. I'm sure the Lyr will prove to be fantastic as well!

On further evaluation, I think what I am hearing from the A2 is some kind of computer ground noise or ground loop rather than amp noise. Again, I am new to this hobby, so who knows what I am hearing. Probably not anything anyone should hold against A2.

Does the AGD master 9 surpass the BHA-1?

Changing from Spotify 320 kbps / Windows Mixer / Modi to TIDAL 1411 kbps / WASAPI / Bifrost Multibit has given me a new appreciation for my V200. I think it sounds amazing and would highly recommend it to anyone with the same headphones.

I like violectric but they're not "wow amps". Rather they're nice pieces of kit which lets the dac and headphones get on with their job. It feels like high-grade studio equipment, good solid neutral / hint of dark performance, low noise floor, good build quality. Just don't expect them to instantly grab you and leave you gobsmacked. It's not that kind of equipment. Think Lexus more than Mercedes AMG. The price could be an issue outside the EU, inside the EU they price is ok compared to a lot of other stuff. And the build quality is certainly nice.

I like Burson too but I like their equipment a lot more with headphones which aren't so super-transparent. For instance I've never found any piece of Burson equipment which I think does the HD800 justice. Good with with HD6X0 or Audeze though. YMMV.

I don't have any experience with Burson, but I do have a Violectric V800 DAC and V100 Amp. From my personal experience, I think they are way overpriced for starters. The V800 DAC is actually pretty good unless you want to use USB. Their USB implementation is not the best. In addition, I actually like my Bifrost Multibit better, and it only costs half of the V800. Also, the V100 amp is just too unrefined and grainy. It didn't sound good with hardly any headphone, and it was only barely ok with my HD600. My Lyr 2 is soooo much better than the V100, and again it costs quite a bit less. I don't have any experience with their higher end amps, but they are just so darn expensive for what you get. It is hard to justify getting Violectric products when you can get better audio equipment for a fraction of their cost.

I detest it when the word "criticism" is replaced by "hate" because internet culture makes people too lazy to think about which words to use. Sorry, I had to get this off my chest. Click bait culture is the last thing you want when it is the information that counts...

I have V200 and HD600. While I like V200 for 2 headphone outputs (so I can watch movies and series with my wife or do quick comparisons between two headphones), for its very low noise floor, solid build, kind of relaxed sound a “no problemo” behavior I like Feliks audio Elise much more when listening to music- its more alive, involving, sense of space is much better, HD600 bass is where I always wanted, heights are better while its still very easy to listen...On the other hand its not so “no problemo” solution...I have had some problems with tubes and it is very sensitive to electricity disturbance (I know when my fridge starts :))

Would you say that describing the sound of the Elise is like trying to describe snow to someone who's only ever lived in the tropics?
