Well given it's a Cowon, you'll get a mid bass bump since you have low OI (increased lower registers on Andro) + Cowon bass.

That should be fine, I generally bump the mid and sub bass up slightly through EQ anyway for on the go listening. I am concerned about hiss too. On HF people say SE846 don't hiss with the Plenue D but it's HF...so who knows.

I have the andro, but I do not have a plenue d. Between lurking and my own experience, I offer the following observations:
The andro are very sensitive and hiss on just about everything when the music isn't playing. You either learn to live with it, or you get an iEMatch.
If you like a little moar bass than neutral, the 0.5 z out isn't going to overbass you.

Any DAP's with a well implemented coax out to feed a DAC?

I am giving up in the DX200...I really prefer the sound of the LPG or WM1Z. The DX200, whole technically proficient, ended up sounding a bit sterile to me, a bit brittle with my iems. It does not sound thin, the sound had body and depth, but sometimes it feels as if the body is like an empty shell. I am of course exaggerating a bit, but in any case not my style.

Most people seem to like it so it might be me, or just a matter of synergy.

Are here some guys, that are really sensitive to hiss? I'm looking for some new portable source, doesn't matter if dap or dac/amp, with as silent background as possible. Any tips? Thanks

Can someone help me with the ZX2 sound adjustment thing? IINM the recommended "disable the sound enhancement" thing is to go to Setting>App>All>Sound Adjustment and then disable it right?

I tried. Now my Sony EX1000 sounds very piercing in the highs. I wonder why, or is the "Sound Adjustment" was taming it all along?

My Questyle QP1R is becoming a near out-of-body experience with my silver cabled Shure SRH1540s. Get the model with the improved click wheel.

the EX1000 is definitely peaky when it comes to the highs, so you might want to eq. As far as disabling the sound enhancement goes, do as follows: go to Settings>Apps>All (furthest to the right)> Sound Adjustment (bottom of list)> Force Stop and Disable App. this will make sure nothing is going on in the background.

Thanks for the guide. I think i'll make some minor adjustment along the way. Now that I realized the true nature of EX1000, I understood what I've been missing and confused about people complaining on the treble peaks.

Yeah, they're definitely peaky in the treble.

Even with direct source it's more coloured than the ZX2 with SoundEnhancment off.

Edit: This post doesn't make sense since some certain mostly harmless deleted their post entirely. I guess I should have quoted.

Does anyone pair EU version of ZX2 with Andromeda? How limiting is the volume cap (good dynamic)?

No issue at all with the Andromeda - they're so sensitive that even a volume capped ZX2 has no problem driving them to ear bleeding volume

Did you burn in your ZX2 for more than 100 hours? Mine sounded crap and sibilant at certain times during the burn in, only after a good 100 hour or so it settled

going back to the cheaper daps, anyone have any recommendations for something at or around 250 USD? Going to be selling my ZX2 sooner rather than later to fund my purchase.

$250 is solidly in the "land of compromises"... what are your priorities?

    Excellent point,

To be frank, I really love my HM 601. It's rock boxed and cost me around $125, the comprises being the crappy UI, the trouble to Rock Box it, and the old school looks. Sound wise, I enjoy it, with both my HD 25-1 ii and my SuperLux HD 668B, it pairs really well with some of the brighter sounding entry level headphones, best part is I charge it about once a month. I can easily get around 30 hours out of it, I rarely ever use a Separate amp with it, to much hassle just to drive my HD 25s

Though, it has a very warm signature overall. But in truth, I prefer the sound quality of my hm 601 over my LG v20, [using the same Parametric EQ settings on each as well mind you]

If you want something from this century, people say good things about the Fiio Players, but other wise I'm not familiar with the entry level dap market, I'm sure others here will have plenty of excellent recommendations from this decade lol

well I'm going to be using whatever I get with my UE 18+ and my 334s (until I sell the latter), and then buying a higher end DAP when I go to Japan in the Winter. I'd like some sort of eq, but mostly sq and battery life being my priority. As far as battery life is concerned I know sony is pretty much tops, so I'm considering the A35, but I'm definitely looking around for something that may sound better, and has ~10 hr of battery life.
