Denon 103R aluminum body mod

    Fascinating! I doubt that would be worth it on my current turntable, but once I upgrade to a better table, that could be a nice addition.

    Yeah, just curious how a retipped 103R in a aluminum or wooden shell would perform compared to some $2k+ carts. I'm always trying to find value, and quite frankly, the TT market, although mature, has some seriously ridiculous pricing.

    I forgot to mention that there are 14 small pieces of lead shot in between the cartridge body and the shell, plus more in those epoxy filled holes
    in the aluminum body for damping. Be sure you have a hefty counterweight on your arm.

    Any one of the line contact or hyper elliptical type deals. The Denons are conical. I need my resolution.

    Let me know if you end up going that route and which tips you like. I like my 103R a lot on my Technics and once I upgrade the table I think doing something like this with a retipping could give me great sound for less than buying a TOTL cartridge.
