On the topic of "the belligerent one", I remember we shouted down someone for having bad taste in hamburgers on the shoutbox. Please remind me who this person was.

He offered to pay for "the belligerent one" a 5Guys burger and couldn't tell me what a good cut of steak was.

Good f'ing times! Sorry most of you guys didn't understand him or too thin skinned for politics.

I have a feeling that his speciality was to get close to people and then shit on them. That's just abusive. But, as I say, I was only there at the Changstar endgame.

As to washing it off... There are still moments when I think of something that would have been clever to say to Anax... but then life is full of wish I'd thought of that at the time.

Not liveable with. There was other stuff apart from sheer forum thuggery, some of which was made semi-public in the early days of SBAF. I suspect that there may have been worse that was not. Don't dig. Not worth it.
I was several decades late with most things in life. The HD6xx and the HD800 are no exception. I can certainly feel latent HD800-fanboyism. But I'm not into the modding game, and not much into the comparison game. If I was, I just might make a whole new generation of but it's not an HD800

Yes, some shit is hard to wash off, especially the shit that comes from people that were thought to be friends. SBAF-rando shit is mostly from people we don't give a f**k about anyway. But it's an excuse for sacrificial noise threads.

Wouldn‘t it be preferable to talk less about people and their shortcomings and more about what a forum like this should be about? Personally I prefer an atmosphere where people are treating each other with respect, even if they know/feel/are certain that they are far more experienced than the one just starting/being limited by what they have had access to/trying to show off in order to prove something mainly to oneself.
Oh my, the tone of some of the recent posts/threads seems to have had an effect on myself as a strong believer in the uniqueness and original grandeur of this forum.

I was going to ask you about the modification
Well, that is what is going on on the rest of the forum. Remember that when you visit this section, it is the worst of the worst. I wouldn't deny that sometimes there is an over-reaction. But there are people who join a forum and fail to appreciate its ways, and those who come with ill intent. The latter are probably rare, but they certainly deserve what they get.

    I resemble that remark :Violin:

But if I may explain, I think I do behave similarly here, as I do elsewhere. I ask a few questions - generally questions that drive other people nuts. They are the kinds of questions I've been introvert-edly thinking about for hours-days-years. I don't get many responses. I'm still puzzled why my Schiit Fulla (original - not version 2) blew the pants off my $700 HeadRoom Home into my 2003 HD650 - thus bringing me back into headphones. I'd like to know a lot more about amplifier design, and don't think I'll be able to do so without speaking to people in person. Or building some things myself, which I will not have time to do for a few years (grad-school).

Most my 2000+ posts on other sites have been in response to questions from other people. I do like to hear many-many-many things (my temporary substitute for building and learning). Having heard a few things, I can often provide at least the first step of insight. However here, well, you guys already know a lot! So I just kind of sit and watch :D

Oh come on! That is a complete and utter lie. You should retract your statement and apologise.

@Marvey was made to utter his dislike of the Ember after your excessive verbosity of its virtues that was of no help to anybody. He at NO point stated that the "entire brand was shit". Those are you OWN words.

Your right my actions are what forced his reaction, but those aren't my words. It seems you forget exactly HOW harsh he was of the not only the Ember which was decribed "shit" but also his critique of the ENTIRE brand being more or less the same. He said he had a responsibility to inform his readers of just how BAD G1217 was.

An it's this kind of ignorance and bias that I don't like about some of you here, your have so much respect for the senior members you seem to view them through rose colored glasses. He edited away his inappropriate comments, so that there's no proof of his foul play here. But he and I as do members of G1217 who also read that, know what was said. So again, I ask that you not continue to delude your self about what happened. Mistakes were made by both of us, and in the end a more truthful opinion surfaced, as it should. But please don't deny his actions and blame me for his mistakes. That kind of self imposed ignorance is childish, and ultimately detrimental to any community. And quite a few of you, have tried to deny the severity of what he said, now I've had my say and I won't continue to beat this dead horse, it isn't worth my time as some of you don't care for the truth. Your content with your own perception regardless of reality. An that's ok! Reality is defined by perception, so who am I to judge you.

Now what matters is he recognized what was said, that it wasn't appropriate removed it and took another frank look at the brand. After another frank look, he was able to contribute something worth while about a product he likes from their line. His opinion is now based on current experience, shit happens and every things always changing. But to deny the past is to repeat it...

    1. Nope. I never crapped on the entire brand. Just the two amps from the brand that I had heard.
    2. I also did not edit away improper responses.

To this point, I revert edits if I see any mods/admins removing dumbass stuff we've said. I like to see all the crap out in the open.

Wow. I read through all of this soap opera as it happened and your version is what I would would expect to see from someone that feels totally vindicated when, in reality, there was only some vindication. In my limited time here I have never seen Marvey not take responsibility for his posts not have I seen him "revise" history to suit his agenda. You, on the other hand, act like a fanboy and make outrageous statements. Then, when things don't go your way, you make statements like "delude your self about what happened" and "That kind of self imposed ignorance is childish, and ultimately detrimental to any community". Like you are trying to help the community here...all you are doing is trying say "I am right and you are wrong". That is what is childish and detrimental to the community. You have been pulling this crap since I got here.

I totally admit I that said the Garage 1217 Ember was shit. Not trying to hide anything. I make mistakes. The guys who have been around a while have seen me make a bunch of mistakes, or to not act sooner rather than later.

My choice of words regarding the Ember was unfortunate and a mistake. I should have simply described how I heard the amp, and maybe given it a grade, like D+. Really, I would have preferred that we moved on from that, letting my words be lost amongst the thousands of posts on SBAF. Reminders that I said the Ember was shit doesn't do any favors for the Ember nor the Garage 1217 brand by association.

@Mshenay: You need to wipe your shit-stained glasses. There's no Dr. Evil or SPECTRE shit going on here. As long as you have an agenda, you will never be a part of this community.

Godwin's 2nd law of audio forums: That they tend towards discussion of Mshenay and the Ember?
@Mshenay, have you heard of Barbara Streisand?

(Saw an recent interesting discussion between the actual Mr Godwin and Mike Masnick (Techdirt), who (I didn't know) apparently coined the phrase Streisand Effect)

@Marvey I have no agenda, and I have no beef with you, you've been up front always and you've taken steps to correct what you said! You handled this all very well. As you've always done, I don't have an agenda. I'm not here to take away from any one, I don't care to nor do I have the time to.

My beef has always been around the people who see you as some kind of deity, and almost vehemently defend your every word like gospel. Nothing I do will ever change that, and as far as Audio Deity's go I guess your not a bad one to have.

@zerodeefex don't waste your time reverting the edits,

My friendly (albeit unsolicited, sorry) advice is that you can show some restraint and not feel as though you have to have the last word every time. There are some things that just don't need to be said among friends. Sometimes being 100% factually correct is nowhere near as important as being socially correct...

Unlike popular belief @Marvey has not reached divinity and even though he holds the title of grandmaster dork he remains a human just like the rest of us.
