Picked this up about a month ago. Still have my lg v10, but I really am enjoying this phone a lot. Audio is the best I've heard from a galaxy device, which doesn't say much at all.

But, other things are good. The theme store works, and what I like best about this phone is that finally, Samsung let's you change the dpi... Well sort of. You can select either regular or smaller, so you can make better use of your real estate. I always root for a few reason, but changing dpi is one of the major reasons I root. I hate having those crazy large icons and having everything so damn large. Best Sammy phone yet. Can't wait for the new Note.

Anyone hear about a successor to the lgv10? I though someone mentioned a V20 on head-fi, but haven't really searched yet.

I gave up the S7E because it was uncomfortable to operate in one hand(kept brushing the edges and activating things unintentionally). Brill screen, though.

Very seriously considering this (the S7 regular) as an upgrade from my S4.
Most of the cheaper alternatives just seem to have too many tradeoffs for me (e.g. OnePlus 3 too big + colour temp drama, Xiaomi 5 too expensive locally)

The S7 is a worthwhile upgrade from the S4; just better on all fronts.

Can't speak yet for the OnePlus 3, but the Mi 5 has frickin' amazing battery life(casual/moderate user). Using the CfA Andro directly, both amplified and acoustic music from the S7 have slightly deeper staging than from the Mi 5.

    Ok, ordered an S7 (regular).
How concerned should I be for the glass back? I don't tend to drop my phones, but should I at least get something to prevent scratches?

If you don't want a case consider a skin from https://dbrand.com/

I prefer to keep my phones in the best condition possible for resale later, but that's just me

I will probably upgrade from my S5 soon. S7 worth it or are there other decent alternatives?

@k4rstar do those skins stay on even if the device gets wet?
@GettingBuckets I was considering the Mi 5, OnePlus 3, LG G5, and even the S6. They're all pretty decent options but in my situation they had the following drawbacks:
Mi 5 - too expensive in my country
OnePlus 3 - too big for my liking
G5 - doubts over how much the modular system will be used, and I don't like on-screen buttons
S6 - poorer battery, so I have concerns over how well the phone performance will hold up over the years (I plan to use this phone for >2 years)
But they're definitely worth looking at! If larger phones are ok, there's also the Mi Note 3, Nexus 6P.

Yea battery life is important for me since I like to squirrel all my free time away looking at dank memes on the phone anyways.

I went from a flip phone to a S5, and I still think the S5 is brick sized so definitely nothing that much larger.

I'm pretty happy with the S4 size; I think S5 is about the same?
With this in mind I found S7 pretty comfortable in hand, though I haven't tried it in pocket yet. S7 is a bit heavier and thicker than S6, but it's a small difference, and the curved back of the 7 makes it actually feel smaller than the 6.

Ok I got the S7. Noticeably bigger and heavier than S4, but not too large for my puny Asian hands.
Also: infinitely better than my S4 so I'm happy.

Can anyone confirm if the S7 DAC has dual clocks? i.e. both 44.1 and 48kHz? I know there's more to it wrt sound quality, but at least redbook FLAC rips won't get resampled. I've got a Note 3 that I'm reasonably happy with driving my ER-4Ps using UAPP. Would have upgraded to the Note 7 if they hadn't started exploding.
