    Hello good folks!

Just wondering about the main differences in these two cans. I own the HE6, but about to look for something much better. I listen to Everything.

If they are both under excellent amps. How to choose?

It's barely out yet. Too early to ask for opinions. Go to the Head-Fi thread and read their hype :)

I'm getting the HEX tomorrow. When I have time, I'll let you know.

Currently using the First Watt M2 for the modded HE-6. The Asgard 2 does the volume control duty (and will be the amp for the HEX).

    Didn't you have a First Watt F6? I'm curious why you got a M2?

I decided I like the F6 too much in my speaker setup so needed (read: wanted) another amp for the HE-6. I got a good deal on a Sony TA-A1ES - first - and then a M2.

HEX sounds very similar to HEK with regard to bass. Impressive extension but just average slam. He6, with the right amp, slams like a pissed off mule. Very few headphones can match the bass slam of the he6 on a good amp. He6 has a more aggressive signature where the HEX is more lush and smooth. I prefer the HEX FWIW.

    Agreed.

The HEX is so well behaved, however. I feel the stock cable is limiting the performance. Will get 2.5mm plugs for my Vanquish cable.

I've been listening to them on the Mojo (optical) with great results, given the form factor (read: compared to my big ass Fist Watt or Sony power amps, DAC and preamp - for the HE-6).

It's very very good for extended sessions. Some will find it lacks the excitement the HE-6 provides (and it does). Probably worth owning both. Will finally do the full mods on the HE-6 and take it from there.

Oppo pm-1 series balanced cable is a nice improvement over the stock cable. Thanks to Austin V. for that one. :punk:

I don't have a balanced cable for the HEX.
Just using the Mojo right now, with great results.

What mods will you do with HE-6?
As been discussed before, Ohhgourami's mods seem to be the shit.
    Fuzzor = overrated.

Yeah, fuzzor is def overrated. It may dampen backwaves, but it completely screws up the FR (see below). You'd be better off disassembling the driver and putting it back together backwards. People who think fuzzor is good probably can't tell the difference between a raised and cake donut. They can't tell the difference between a sunny day and overcast. They can't tell the difference between the two different stock SBAF themes. A bunch of wannabe audiophiles, if you ask me. MY HE-6 with MY special mods with MY special amp is the only way to listen to them. Period.

As you can see, the fuzzor drops the ~16kHz peak by a LOT. Like, holy shit. How is nobody hearing this?

May I ask what gear you're using ? HD800 and HE6 scale way higher than HE500. Sometimes it's good to look elsewhere than right under your nose.
