So Jude, so why you are so obsessed with measurement e-peening? For example, I cite this from your shitty forum:

You want to know why your noise floor is 45db lower? It's because of this thing called FFT Process Gain. This was discussed years ago on www.changstar.com here: http://www.changstar.com/www.changstar.com/index.php/topic,2796.0.html

It has to do with FFT window size or as your noobishly call it, FFT points. At the end of the day, none of this shit matters. It's all academic and shit 140db down doesn't seem to correlate to anything that I can hear. 140db is like 1/10 million in terms of voltage ratio. Finally, you also took my "10db lower comment" totally out of context, which was with the use of a balanced voltage divider probe within the scope of my own measurements, not in comparison to your lower noise AP with 16M FFT points.

So Jude, just shut the f**k up. You don't know WTF you are talking about. Stop embarassing yourself. You're not technical. You don't understand the math behind it. You are a measurement noob. Heck, I'm a measurement noob too - I'm still learning every day.

LOL! Yeah, I remember that discussion at Changstar. The dScope has the same issue which is automatically corrected on the reading but not necessarily on the plot.

    That read like cheap advertisement:

At Head-Fi we care about noise floor, "This is why we went to considerable expense and trouble to have a lab-grade isolation enclosure built, for as much acoustic and vibration isolation as we could reasonably afford and fit into our office. While I've seen and experienced better isolation at several labs and manufactories than we can achieve here, I don't personally know of anyone doing consumer-facing headphone measurements that has gone to the lengths we have to isolate the headphones being measured. When I want to measure the harmonic distortion of these headphones, I want to do the best I can to make sure I'm only measuring harmonic distortion."

    At Head-Fi, we care.

BTW, Everything is awesome. Specially if you are Sennheiser. So why not be butt buddies and pay for a primo sponsorship with us @ Jude-Fi. Don't wait. Join now.

I forgot that reducing exterior noise and/or lowering the noise floor on graphs also meant existing harmonic content way above the noise floor would suddenly become lower as well. I'm glad Jude reminded me of this with his tiny penis.

My rig sometimes doesn't show distortion that other rigs do. And sometimes the other way around. But the fact of the matter is even the big boys in this industry still haven't totally figured out what's 100% accurate with measurements. What happened to leaving it at, "Different rigs, different results"? I'm not sitting here calling other results totally false. We're still in the learning phase.

Also, I find it odd that many of his measurements seem to show lower distortion on almost all headphones vs other rigs. And I'm talking about the times it has nothing to do with a lower noise floor when compared to other rigs with higher floors. My best guess is lack of user understanding and knowledge. Maybe purposeful manipulation of the methods or data.

It is impressive how he has used his measurements to further push products. I figured it would do the opposite. But he does seem selective with his results.

Yup. Noise floor doesn't affect the harmonics, unless the noise is so high that it buries them.

Seems like he’s trying to set himself up as the only reliable source of measurements, and lo and behold all his measurements support his over enthusiastic shilling.

So you're the on-line enthusiast Marv? If so, that's pretty darned petty that he won't properly quote and credit the source. As a photographer I have to put up with this kind of uncredited bullshit all the time. I thought Jude was more professional than this?

I can only be mentioned in a negative light, e.g. by Larry as the" egoist". This has been a fun day. He does credit me while at meets. I know years ago at the Ann Arbor meet, he went off on a "Marv and his measurements" rant. Seems kind of disingenuous if you ask me that all of a sudden, he's interested in measurements.

I wish he was taller. We could be good friends if he was.

Maybe he has one of those Japanese vagina robots in the back of his GRAS enclosure, you know, for science... and a lower noise floor.

The dude needs to get some height increasing insoles or see a therapist. Tall people don't really see shorter people as short because most people are already short to them, unless someone is super short... oh wait.

Merv, you shouldn't "stoop so low".

    What would Randy Newman say?

Bonus prize for the first person to correctly identify the studio headphones Randy is wearing in the video!

Did Jude just published his 45 dB delta conclusion w/o regard of FFT process gain "to thousands (even millions) of people"?

"I do think we should expect and encourage greater" understanding on how to interpret characterization and engineering concepts from a compelling and authoritative site such as Jude-Fi.

Specially considering his measurement rig is bigger and taller than @Tyll Hertsens.
