Way too soon for that in my mind at this point...we just got Alpha samples, so lots of time still until mass production

That's sooner than I thought. Take your time, nail the tuning. Send SBAF a sample :D

As I recall, Klipsch IEMs are consumer oriented bass cannons. Hope that's not the Klipsch house sound.

I'm sorry but that is completely untrue. And no we are not building consumer orientated bass cannons.

Come on guys, I'll share the build and progress pics and answer questions and make you part of the project but if I'm going to get nonsense like this I will not waste my time

I wouldn't mind if they were bassy. A lot of the Foster driver based headphones tend to be bassy and no one here seems to mind.

The current Klipsch IEMs seem to follow a pattern, where they start bassy but are neutral once we are at the top of the chain. I like this approach as it satisfies entry level consumers and experienced audiophiles.

I was pretty impressed with the X12i IEMs I heard, I definitely didn't think they were too bassy. Anyways, I for one am very excited about these Heritage headphones and I'm sure a number of others are as well. Please keep us posted as they come together, we greatly appreciate how transparent you are being about the development.

So...looks like I will be in CA on the 12th and 13th, not sure I can extend the trip, but looking into it (I've already flown 150K miles in the air this year, so time home is precious these days).

If I can't extend until the 15th, might be able to potentially meet up with some members somewhere near LA on the 12th or 13th...maybe a little sneak peek for some of you? If there is interest, I could also ask the Headfi guys too?

    Thoughts?

It really would be sweet if you could come to the SBAF meet on the 15th, you would have a lot of ears listening to the headphones, but I understand that family time comes first. We could give you table space if you do decide to stay for the meet.

I'll be out of town but I'm sure a handful of guys would be down to listen a few days earlier. The meet on the 15th would really be the best venue though, especially since there will be a number of nice rigs to test them on.

Since you are reading this thread, I decide to copy&paste what I said on HF thread regarding your companies' headphones.

I really hope, if possible, your company would provide us extra headband when the headband is worn out and the headphone is out of warranty.

I agree whole heatedly! The first headphone I Purchased after a year away from the hobby was the HD 25-1 ii because EVERYTHING is replaceable! I have no intention of ever selling it, in part because of how tough it is and how easy it is to service!

Yes, our idea is a "nuts and bolts HP". You can take the thing apart with a screwdriver and allen key.

Not to be prickly, but this is the right community in signal-to-noise terms if you want substantive feedback that improves your products. Otherwise, you probably already know alternatives with out-sourced moderation staff and unverified posters.

Consider asking this... Would you rather have an echo chamber or sounding board?

I think he'd rather have useful feedback, instead of worthless comments from people who haven't heard the product. For myself, I'm glad SBAF is in on the action as far as consumer feedback-when the cans are finally heard.

I think it's important to have people listen to early prototypes. What's the point of getting feedback on something that's 95% ready for market? At some point, you cross the point of no return and tuning adjustments become almost impossible without substantial design revisions. Have people sign an NDA, ask for honest feedback and then try to make changes to address concerns.

I get that, I was talking about useless general statements about brands that have no use in the product development.

OK. This is sketchy at best but I really feel we need to start to get these in your hands or better yet on your ears (that was bad I know...).

Lets have a meet or two.

    Here's what I'm thinking:

First meet in NY or Philly. Please message me, or do you think we need a separate thread?

I'm thinking I can have myself, Vlad my Product Manager and Andrew our chief HP engineer. If we get enough response I will rent a ballroom...some place cool...Soho Grand in NY or somewhere in Old City in Philly (if you haven't been there is an amazing spot for Belgian Beer called Eulogy on 2nd and like Chestnut (their slogan is the 300 best beers you've never heard of). We'll do a raffle with some of the current product and if you attend we will get you special pricing on production Heritage HP's.

Between the three of us at Klipsch we have a decent amount of amps and other gear but we should probably ensure there is enough gear to make comparisons and also a bunch of different rigs...

If we can move quick, maybe we can get together in the next 2-3 weeks. The faster we arrange the less formal this will be...but perhaps the more beer we will consume...

Our goal is to get honest feedback, so if you plan to attend, I'm giving you homework!

Based on the success of this event, we can make this a roadshow and certainly arrange a west coast meeting too. I think we need a few informal events before we start to gear up for the major trade shows.

    Thoughts???
