Are the headphone drivers pure biocelluse or Neodymium with a biocelluse diaphragm?

That didn't really make sense. Drivers are a combination of magnets and diaphragms. You're going to have a neodymium magnet pushing/pulling the biocellulose diaphragm.

    Thanks for the page!

If you are interested in hosting a meet in NYC, PM me and we'll get this rolling. We have a pretty good amount of people in the NY region who would be willing to come out for a mini meet. Saturday or Sunday would probably be best. Less formal would be a plus too.

I think Steve or Vlad did say on Headfi that they will be at RMAF with samples. I'm hoping we can hear them sooner than that though, I think they said review samples were going out in September, Klipsch has been pretty quiet the last week or so though. I really hope these are good since they check so many boxes for me. I've always wondered why more companies don't go for the semi-open design. It seems to have a lot of benefits.

I think they look bloody fantastic. My local headphone shop stocks Klipsch, so I'm really hoping they get some of these in once they are released. They have some competition from various brands at their price point, so I'm interested to see how they go tuning/sound signature wise.

    Looks good.

Definitely interested in the sound signature of these too. The Chorus 2, Fortes, and KLF speaker line I've enjoyed over many years have all been dynamic, very lively (the they are here experience), a bit harsh, but enjoyable for some types of music, especially rock. Hoping these can end up being my go-to headphone for that same sound signature.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it retains most of the TH900's bass (since the driver is probably very similar, both are made by Fostex, 50mm biocellulose and 25ohm ... Klipsch says it has been tweaked to their specs but I can't imagine it straying too far from the TH900). The main difference obviously is that the driver is vented in the back; it appears to be closer to an open back than other vented closed's like the Eikon. Klipsch have also recessed the driver in the housing, which they claim widens the soundstage. With these two changes in place, I expect the Klipsch HP3 to sound very different from the Fostex models they have evolved from. It remains to be seen if this difference will be for the better.

We will see. The Heritage line is all about horns, and horns aren't for everyone, but love the sound of horn speakers at times. That airy, dynamic, in your face sound has appeal (just not all the time). The woofers weren't so great in the Chorus 2 or Forte line I owned, but they tightened that up a lot in the KLF line (also part of the Heritage line up). The Altec Lansing Voice of Theater and home versions line up also had that horn magic. We will see if these live up ;)

You can see the semi open vent holes in the wood cup, top of the picture.

Update: Klipsch has officially been added to the RMAF headphone exhibitor list so that will mostly likely be the first time anyone in this community will be able to hear them. Hopefully some members in attendance can give us impressions.

I'm not sure what you're getting at. For starters, the headphones are still in prototype form. Its extremely uncommon for manufacturers to send out prototypes for review. Second, we aren't exactly a known quantity for a company like Klipsch. I did reach out to the Klipsch rep on Headfi and I was pleased to see that he made an account here and has posted some updates. Thats a step in the right direction. Last I heard, they are burning the midnight oil getting these ready for RMAF. They are actually being way more transparent than most companies when it comes to the design process and if you read through the Headfi thread, they have implemented a number of community suggestions (widening the headband and adding extra padding, magnetic ear pad attachment, changing the connectors from lemo to the much more common 3.5mm). I just think you're being a bit presumptuous about their intentions.

Personally what I've seen so far is a member of Klipch in this very thread moan about someone calling their previous phones bass cannons. This to me shows the guy doesn't respond well to criticism. They had an opportunity to do a mini meet with SBAF to get experienced opinions and they didn't.

If they really want to make a difference they should of jumped at the opportunity to work something out. I'm personally tired of headphones coming out with screwed up tonal balances and other big issues. It's like the hobby improves in some aspects then jumps back three spaces when it comes to the most important aspect.

The company is bringing out a headphone in the high end league in terms of price, they don't exactly have a track record for high end phones. You playing the white knight doesn't help company's improve, honest critism does whether it's performance of behaviours leading up to release.

I'm not shitting on them, just pointing out they could've done a lot more months and months working with experienced listeners to nail the tuning.

@Ryanr1987, I'm with you on tuning not receiving the attention it deserves but lets just wait and see how they turn out. I'm not disagreeing with you completely, I would have preferred it if a feedback meet had happened already since these are supposed to hit dealers in October. The discussion of an SBAF meet in NY was only two weeks ago though so it could still happen for all we know. @thegunner100 ... any updates on the proposed NY mini meet?

Also, the proposed meet wasn't just for SBAF members, Klipsch posted the exact same thing on Headfi two weeks ago. The only other thing I will say say is that I made a status post earlier today about a certain company being prevented from posting updates on their Headfi thread because they had not paid to be Headfi sponsors, which may explain why the meet planning hasn't gone anywhere yet.
