For anyone using an iPhone the new volume scheme is a welcome change.

I mean... I don't want to make it sound like I'll bring a pitchfork to LH Labs tomorrow or anything like that (hah!). But just to say, the regression is something that I'm starting to find quite annoying when used on a desktop setup. I do understand that it's a welcome change for portable users, but I almost never use my GO2A portably anyway (probably very different use case compared to GOV2+ or GO2PRO)

Other than that, though, everything else is rock solid. I love the way it sounds, and I also like that gain is adjusted automagically now, too. Perhaps have a "cheat code" built in (up down left right B A?) to switch the behavior?

I'm not sure why they made that volume change on the units without a built in battery. Those are clearly designed for desktop use.

Unfortunately this is symptomatic of LH Labs' typical predicament of not enough focus, time and money to do product development right. I'll grant them the inclination, since the sound is good so they DO care about the core capability. But you cannot today afford to cock up the UX and not think through your user scenarios. You will fail sooner or later.

really like volume control, I was waiting for this feature for a long time.
I also noticed that the device is now even warmer than before. It is dangerously hot ! During summer period I don't really like to use it, I'll be happy during winter though :)

Is anyone having the issue (as of today) where the 2A is now too LOW in volume? I was using my headphones today and where I used to be able to run my 2A at volume level 10-15 and have it PLENTY loud for my headphones, all the sudden I'm having to crank it up to almost 50-ish before I get it loud enough? I'm running it on my bookshelf studio monitors and I'm getting the same thing --- I used to be able to run it at about 35 and it was loud. Now I'm having to go to 50 and it's STILL not loud enough? Is this a Windows update thing?

Check you're not going through the Windows Mixer. Also, what firmware are you on? 1.5 or 2.1?

It's the automatic gain switching thing.

Do I correctly remember a rumor of an Andromeda optimized GO? Is that forthcoming?

It's on everything - low, middle and high. Also I'm getting a loud popping when I remove the headphones from the unit itself that normally isn't that *exaggerated*.

EDIT: FIXED!!! I checked the "Do Nothing" in the Sound Mixer "Communications" tab and it fixed the issue! I'll have to do that on the other laptop as well now.

I'm confused; if I order the Go2Pro now will it ship or is it still in preproduction?

It's being shipped and not shipped, produced and not produced all at the same time. You won't actually know until you enter their factory :)

Easiest thing is to buy used, saves you time wondering when you will hear from them

I ordered one last month. Got it within a couple of weeks after payment. I did contact customer service first asking about it and kept communication with them throughout rather than just ordering from the site.

That's disconcerting. I'll look for used I guess; I'd like the nicer casing and new model but not if it means having to nag them to ship it to me. EDIT: got a used one arriving Friday

    Why iPhone and not Android?

Maybe for Android users as well, but the iPhone in particular has far too large of a jump between volume steps, so relying on a combo of iPhone volume and gain settings with the older firmware always resulted in the music being too loud or not loud enough in my experience. Now the volume is controlled by the device so the iPhone volume settings are no longer an issue.

Anyone heard anything new about the Geek Wave lately?

@zerodeefex - Any insights from the inner-workings of LHL on our long-awaited DAP? Or even the Source, which last I heard was out in field trials?

    Cheers

I hear source is out and about. I mention it because I want to buy one to compare to my epic fanless, LPS driven system I'm putting together around the lynx.

The Wave I know is proceeding. Larry hired some pretty solid people to see it getting over the line. Part of the move to hire and staff some of the team in China was to get a more robust supply chain.
