Has anyone had the opportunity to hear the Massdrop AKG K7 XX Headphones? They look pretty nice and now have them in the red edition, they look really sexy, but of course sound is what matters.

They retail for $649.99 MSRP but Massdrop has them for $199.99. If I wasn't broke I'd love to pick a pair of these up if they were any good. That is a pretty drastic price decrease. They are also offering a $10 coupon for anyone who joins the drop.

P.S. If these have been discussed in another post/Thread, I sincerely apologize, I did not see anything on these when I searched.

From what I read from those posts, I think I would enjoy them, I like warmth and bass!

I had a very brief listen to the K7XX a few months ago, not red. If you like warmth and bass I would say you'll be better served by the HD650. Which also outperformed it in most other areas, like impact and overall resolution.

I see. I do own a pair of HD650's . Well even at the price of $199.99 I can't get them but I was curious about other member's perspectives on them.

That's the same price at which the regular black K7XX have always been sold. I think the MSRP refers to the K702 Anniversary Edition MSRP, but nobody pays that price for them anyway.

    Discussed ad nauseum here:
I owned both the K7XX and HD650 contemporaneously, and the only thing I preferred about the AKGs was their comfort (suspension strap and bigger earpads). Sound quality? HD650 all the way. Posted about my experience at the links below:

Used K7XX are pretty easy to find and show up here sometimes. They seem to go for $140-160. There's a cheap pair on ebay right now although the seller's feedback isn't very high.

The K612pro is a cheaper and better headphone anyways. Roughly the same sensitivity, though higher impedance so it lets you play with wonky tube amps at your leisure.
