You should quit SuperBAF, change your local DNS hostfile so superbestaudiofriends.org points to Head-Fi.org. Read up on only the positive reviews, repeat, and then safely buy the MicroZOTL with the LPS. Life is easier in bubble.

In this article, the reviewer uses a lot of words (3050 to be exact) and yet he really says very little of substance or value other than perhaps broaching the myth of miracle working perpetuated by the HF thread. Be careful.

i dont understand your sarcasm....asking question because someone is in a state of doubt is no insult...I mention in my post that because of reading all reviews not only on the net but here, i am in waiting mod. for this purchase...And this is a good thing not to rush... But i want to understand why is there so contrary views...

Most of the sites, magazines, what-have-you that write reviews in the audio industry are overly positive about everything for reasons I'll never fully understand. Bad ears, maybe? I'm not sure what to tell you if you haven't picked up on the fact that people at sites like SBAF are actually very critical listeners and call things out for what they are.

In other words, you can find a million positive, glowing reviews for shit outside of SBAF. Sometimes we agree with them. Often times not. If you find you don't agree with our assessments, you can ignore us.

I hope you have not been living under a rock. Because there will always be contrary views. For example, Tyll and I have gone on record that the HD700 is a "piece of shit". CNET (http://www.headfonia.com/the-sennheiser-hd700-journal/) said the HD700 was awesome. So did Headfonia Mike (http://www.headfonia.com/the-sennheiser-hd700-journal/), although I suspect Headfornia Mike's exuberance was probably because Sennheiser gently caressed the ridges of his penis.

Doesn't seem to be enough sorbothane in the world to dampen Richard's enthusiasm for the microZOTL and it's superior topology and timbre.

Yes, it seems really to me that the only reason to this polarization is some bias in the reviewer inconscious at least...one thing is sure if there is many dissents in a unanimous crowd, the truth is more than often with the dissent... i know that and dont live under a rock, no...

By the way i like sorbothane but perhaps it would have been my choice only to put that under my name....it seems childish to me to act in another way...

And yes i am curious about Berning amp all along... by the way the only thing that dampen my enthusiasm is stupidity, and that is everywhere, it seems ...

Something i like about this site is precisely the individual opinions and dissent... for that thanks... It make me thinking in the right way, dont buy too rapidly...

First, you should decide on who to believe. Noone can tell you who to believe. Everyone has an opinion. It's up to you to figure out if the reviewer is competent and able to communicate in terms you understand. We can't tell you one way or another. We do not understand your motivations one way or another. Or should have to.

Understand that we will not have to live with that decision. That's up to you. You seem to come across as someone whose parents picks out their clothes to wear in the morning. Is that you?

I think a lot of people at SBAF feel the same way...and confusion is part of most existence.

thanks for your kind reply...yes i am confuse about purchase but curious also , i start this thread precisely because of that , and thanks to some here i have developed doubts about the praise, but i was amazed by the contrast of impressions here and there ..... And i am not the guy who walks with the sheep crowd , nor the woolf pack, it is sometimes the same line of childs minus the costume ... ..you know what i means...

By the way the last time i have bought a tube amp. i give more money for tubes than for the amp cost...when i read all about the tweaks on the microzotl i develop some fear that i will give my money for small gain... I am curious also by the last sim audio amp, alas! too much money for me to give now ....

    I think I do.

One thing I have learned is that people on the internet understand us a lot less than we think or wish they do....I try to keep that in mind before I post anything...

    1) no one picks their custom title. Marv chose mine and I probably gave him his. This isn't still the pirate ship but we do have some snarkiness.

    2) buy the damn MicroZOTL. You clearly want it. At the end of the day we're just random people on the internet who can give you advice. You can choose to take it or consider other sources you consider trusted. I personally don't like the amp but all I can do is give you my take on it.

The dissent on the MicroZOTL is very specific in nature here. Many positives on the MicroZOTL have also been pointed out. I suggest you make a matrix of reviewers (including any comments from the manufacturer) and note specifics (bass quality, treble, midrange, flexibility with low Z cans, resolution, value, tweaks, etc.) You will start to see areas of consistency and agreement.

I suggest this path for you. At some point, you have the take the plunge. You cannot always be on the sidelines waiting. Only by doing this, can you decide who is worth trusting, or who shares your sonic preferences.

thanks for the precision about the nickname...i understand now...I dont want to buy the zotl now, after what i have read here, and i am curious , and yes i know that some reviewers here are very good and i have made the total of the pluses + the minuses and i dont rush there anymore, thanks to your detailed impressions, even if the amp seems interesting...My point is the abyss separating the price and praise compared to more earth ground impressions... I start this thread and dont want to kill it, i will read some others with theirs impressions with great pleasure... It is one of the interesting side of this hobby to read intelligent reviewer, one side or the other of the fence....It is human diversity of experience to be the way it is...You are right i will not know my own verdict except to buy this amp, but i cannot now....

@richard51 since you first started this thread I have bought and sold a MicroZOTL2. I'd be glad to discuss with you offline. Although now that you seem swayed against it, how about posting in the General Advice thread with your preferences and see what comes of it? I have a feeling an amp both suiting your preferences and preserving some of your savings account balance can be readily recommended.

thanks bazelio...i already have this magical amp, i am not against the zotl, but i read your review and the review of Hands and i must say that after that i discover the potential of my sansui +sorbothane, this and your impressions kills not my curiosity about Berning design, but my urge to buy one in the near future yes... thank you for your words... By the way the simaudio amp seems interesting, but the price is too much for me now...
