@PacoTaco That sucks, sorry to hear that. I finally got it on my second appeal, turns out they wanted to see my credit card bill among other things. It was not an easy process

The USPS puts you through crazy gyrations in trying to collect on insurance. When you buy insurance, they charge you based on what you say it was worth, but in a claim, you have to prove somehow what you paid for it. It should be paid at stated value as the fee was based on. Subsidized robbery.

You can know it wasn't me who swiped the Ethers I would have returned them to you. Most disappointing phones I have ever owned. No, that was Nighthawks.

Either way. Good luck with your claim.

could Marv or someone else please measure the 1.1 Ether? I believe it cleaned CSD significantly.... Also another problem is that the THD measurements are totatly different to what Tyll from Innerfidelity measured. His graph shows the THD at 100db mostly flat in midrange being around 0.1%,with gentle rise to about 0.3% at 20hz and large dip betwee 3 and 5khz without the peak at 6khz that Marv measured.I am confused and dont know what to believe since the two graphs are totaly different

I would advise that you don't worry too much about the distortion measurements. The levels and method that I take the distortion measurements at are slightly different from Tyll's. Tyll's 90db graphs are most comparable to those here. I also only measure the values at specific harmonics (2nd, 3rd, 4th). Tyll measures Total HD+noise, which is a little bit different. I'm showing 0.1% in the upper bass down to about 0.05% in the mids and then with a peak up to 0.3% (right) or 0.4% (left). Really nothing massively different in terms of distortion, especially with distortion measurements which are tough to take and can even vary each time. Ultimately you are comparing Apples to Oranges. As Jude so aptly says in his blog, different measurement systems, different results. Best to compare within one system and look at relative differences.

1.0, but I tried a variety of different front damping foam myself. Listened but did not post measurements. It sounds a lot better with the right front damping change, tonally, but still suffers from a poor stage.

Have you noticed any particularly good amp pairings, Hands? The Ether seemed to change quite a bit from amp to amp as I used it, but I never found that 'magic' synergy. I would think something dynamic like a Mjo2 or Rag would give it some balls.

Mjolnlir 2 or Liquid Crimson would be good candidates. Warmish amps, tube to take the edge off, solid-state output stage.

I dunno, I was more worried about pair-to-pair variance than I was amp pairing. Kinda reminded me of the HE1K in that I felt the transducer wasn't transparent or tuned well enough to really make me care about amp differences or synergy.

Yea, that's kind of how I felt about the HE1K myself. Kinda a shame, I think the Ether is pretty close to a top end competitor if it had a bit more of the technicality of say a HD800. But in it's current state, I don't really see it as doing anything better, barring the 6K peak.

Why is there so much variation in bass roll off with the Ether.
