It seems like we have to wait a few more weeks for the 8020D; https://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/pro...0D-aktiivinen-2-tiekaiutin-tummanharmaa-1-kpl
I'm starting to wonder whether I should go for the -20 instead of the -30 and add a subwoofer (7040A) to save a bit of desk space...

Has anyone here heard the Presonus Sceptre S6 or S8?

They have good reputation. Just remember that with coax you're getting less woofer real estate, so I wouldn't go smaller than 8in.

They're also digital and I'm not a fan of them not letting you input digital signal. My Equator Q12's always keep me wondering, if this really is the best they can sound. Maybe I should take them apart, build four power amps and a quad channel DAC...

Yeah that does seem to be a limiting factor as you're using their built-in-ADC... but it seems other dsp enabled monitors are all pushing up into double the price range.

And if you're gonna take them apart, I think the first step might be to see if you can bypass the adc and input a digital signal directly?

Those are made from the guy who used to run ADAM right? Good pedigree there and I seem to recall initial reviews being positive.

Seems like Adam is a good incubator of powered monitors... Eve and now HEDD.

    HEDD bridge is interesting though.

Oooh... digital inputs and various connecting protocol doodads is not new in monitors, but I don't think any of them actually have Dante or other AOIP yet.

Yeah the bridge looks interesting. The lesser brother with 6" woofer is is cheaper. Even this one is priced reasonably well.

Yeah, having Dante or Ravanna direct input is pretty new. Cheaper than an unDAES-o too.

I've yet to decide how to approach the nearfields...
Right now I'm thinking Genelec 8010 + 7040 subwoofer. Those 8030's look very nice, but with a 27" screen + Yggdrasil + Mjolnir2 + laptop docking station on my office desk already it might just be an impossible task...

If you went 8030 I'd advocate to get stands and have them alongside the desk, not on the desk. Move the desk out enough to triangulate properly for your seating position.

    Good point.
I've got access to measurement eq/mic but I think the size might be the deal breaker here.

I could get the 8010 + sub and have more room to position them correctly, might even be able to wall mount. My listening time with these speakers will be quite limited anyway so I'm not sure I want to spend too much. It's just nice to have something to use when ears get warm :)

Fair enough :). I have the 8030s and when I unpacked them my first reaction was "Oh, these seem quite a bit smaller than I was imagining". So if you can see them in person it may change things (money aside). The 7050 sub on the other hand is quite a bit bigger than I was expecting, and the 7040 is the same dimensions, just not as deep, just FYI.

I heard the 1030 which was the predecessor to the 8030. If they share a similar tonality, I found them quite clear but slightly V-shaped. Doable without a sub unless you want super deep lows.
