    Folks,

I have been happily listening to a pair of HiFiMan HE-Xv2 phones since they came out a few years ago, and because of that, I haven't been paying too much attention to the market, and certainly haven't been watching the IEM market much.

However, I just got moved from a private office into a cube farm, and the open back HE-X is no longer going to fly in here! I feel like I got screwed out of my listening enjoyment, but we'll see what I can do to mitigate that as much as possible.

Currently, I'm using a Fiio X5v3 to a Metrum Acoustics Musette, and into a slightly modded Torpedo 3 amp, and then to the HE-X.

I like the overall sound, and I'm used to it now, so its hard to feel like there is anything wrong with the sound. Yes, if I did rigorous comparisons with other systems, I'd probably like some more (and others less).

Can anyone recommend some relatively inexpensive ($500 or less) IEMs that might have a similar sound as the HE-X? I'm actually thinking that I won't really be able to benefit from the DAC and amp at the office anymore, so maybe I'll just go directly to the Fiio from the IEMs.

Secondarily, is there a pair of on-ear or over-ear closed back headphones I should consider?

There are so many headphones out there that I need to at least narrow the field some to start doing some research.

    Thanks,

    ---Michael
