I think I lurk enough to warrant becoming a member.

Looks like a screwed up. I forgot I'd already signed up as BMF in Feb. When I signed up yesterday, I tried BMF first but it was taken. I didn't think anything of it so just added 'Flyer' to BMF. I discovered this error when I noticed a reply I made did not have my avatar. I scrolled up to a post I made yesterday with the avatar. Then it hit me, I was BMF and BMF Flyer! I don't have a clue how logging in, today, as BMF Flyer, hooked me up with BMF.

If possible, I'll ask a moderator to delete one or the other, or both and I will register again.

    I apologize for the hassle.

Yes, nick is still doing ortho mods as far as I know. He's also doing mods to dynamic phones, vintage amps, and vintage Mercedes restoration. I made the mistake of buying a Sharkk "elcectrostatic hybrid" set of phones and they sounded like crap...overblown bass, bass bleeding into the mids, and No treble. I sent them to nick and he drastically modified them including a lot of cutting, damping, and changing out the caps. He said he made them sound much better.

Sorry @Derf I copy-pasted (and modified accordingly) your post since I couldn't think of a good way of formatting this.

I typically don't do a lot of forum posting but I do tend to lurk quite a while before I decide to start, Reddit didn't take me long but I've yet to do so on Head-fi for example due to my not being able to separate hype very well. (still regretting that TH-X00 purchase with the exception of it's aesthetics)

I live in DFW as a full-time subcontractor and a part-time student and I haven't been to any meets but I'm fortunate to have Audio Concepts nearby where I can demo some of the more mainstream options before buying.
Unfortunately due to my awful protection of my hearing while working my hearing isn't the best (for my age), at normal volumes I can hear from 30Hz to 19kHz.

I don't have anything particularly fancy (at least in comparison to some of the gear I've seen here), my setup is Mimby->Lyr 2->LCD-2F (2016) but I have an incoming Atticus in Padauk that I hope will replace my LCD-2F since my paranoia of a driver failing on me has increased with time and because I like the aesthetics of ZMF gear.

I'm itching for a CIEM but I'm still relatively undecided but I'm not in a rush.

I do have two other hobbies which are reading and wet shaving, a bit different from other people I see with fountain pens, mechanical keyboards, and people who can appreciate good alcohol.

Here are some tracks to give you an idea of what I listen to: (Spotify links)

Dancing in the Grey - Michael Malarkey
    Knights of Cydonia - Muse
Ain't No Rest for the Wicked - Cage the Elephant
Jekyll & Hyde - Five Finger Death Punch
    Don't Wanna Know - Maroon 5
    Ego - Indila
    Spanish Harlem - Rebecca Pidgeon
    The Greatest - Sia
I'm the Supervisor - Infected Mushroom
    Cut - Plumb
The Hands That Thieve - Streelight Manifesto

At this point I really should have just made this a playlist and linked the entire thing, oh well.

Thanks for reading and I hope I'll learn something here even if it's just separating hype from reality.

How would you compare EL-8C with T5P, I had EL8C and liked them a lot but was too worried about vulnerable cable connectors hence got rid of them. I also have Elear and want to know how t5p compare to Elear and Shure 1540. Thanks.

    Hi everyone!

I'm from sunny/too hot Singapore, and my first step into quality headphones, the Sennheiser HD650, has just arrived. That'll be for home use, and I'm still looking for a good amp for it. Most tempted by the Vali 2, and will likely go from PC -> ZuperDAC -> Vali 2 -> HD650 while saving up for a better DAC in the future.

On the go I use a pair of Advanced AcousticWerkes (AAW) A2H Pro CIEMs, out of my iPhone. AAW is a local company, and I think their CIEMs offer great value! Just that the waiting time is a little long though.

I listen to everything. Couple of weeks back I was listening to Teresa Teng constantly, and I spent last week listening to Glenn Gould. This week has all been about Deltron 3030. Don't know what's gonna happen next week, we'll see :)

Besides headphones, my other hobbies include World of Warcraft, Football Manager, and getting annoyed by Arsenal's results. Oh, and eating!

Hey, Some people probably already know me. I'm from California and frequent the reddit and discord for headphones. I am a college student who likes audio, reptiles, and games.

@food Welcome, nice username. Vali 2 is a great choice, heaps of info on it here which I'm sure you've already gone through.

    Hobby or full-time job?

Thank you! I've read the thread about it, but I think I'll do a bit more research before ordering it. I have funny needs. :)

Getting annoyed by Arsenal's results used to be a small hobby, but in recent years it's taking up more of my time :(

I'd wager this is indicative of a critical mass of users forming, and which could herald SBAF transitioning from being somewhat niche to becoming something more mainstream...

@landroni I'd like to think the holidays have enabled more people to enjoy their favorite hobbies. And after some diligent research, landed here and decided to sign up. Hell since my holiday started, all I've been doing is collecting albums and listening to music.

LOL. That is indeed surprising. Guess, I have to settle with being the second one :)
