Would be interesting to get some more ears on the PAPs. Funny how suddenly Voxativ became popular on here again :p.
I hope the room won't mess it up. Might not be easy to get it to work in one of these show rooms.

I wonder whether Ze'ev intentionally placed the PAPs in the main hall rather than a dedicated room at Munich. A room with far away sidewalls works well enough in my setting. That said a closed quiet room will highlight the resolving character of the Vox as well as the well defined bass out of those 15" Eminences.

Anyone else going on Sunday? Let's try to organize a lunch or dinner. Taking suggestions. Of course, you guys are free to come out for lunch/dinner even if you're not going to the NYAS. :)

Any other suggestions for rooms or brands to look out for? I wish Devore Fidelity would come out to the NYAS, considering that they're local from Brooklyn.

I've heard good things about Ohm speakers, but haven't hear them myself...they'll be in room 801. I'm looking forward to that.

I am thinking about going today, beginning at 2 p.m., when the show opens to the public, or tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. Anybody going to be there for either day. I think Sunday won't work unfortunately as my son has travel soccer in NJ.

Edit: Although if you all meet up for dinner/drinks afterwards on Sunday I may be able to meet you.

I think I’d join on Sunday!

A friend of mine has O/93’s that I’ve had the pleasure of listening to for a few hours now. @sphinxvc and I have been meaning to have a meet there. We should do it soon!

I didn't make it today. Planning on going tomorrow morning. Will post here if I am going to be there and perhaps we could meet up.

My takeaway was the show sucked this year and wasn't really worth going to. I didn't like the hotel too much last year but this year had fewer exhibitors add no ballrooms. Everything was in tiny, compromised rooms. Still, if I had been feeling better (had been sick all week with bronchitis), for $26 and a 15 minute subway ride,it would have been worth it. I just wasn't so much in the mood so I am being a bit overly negative I suppose. Not trying to put a damper for those going tomorrow. How many NY audio shows are there - one per year and it is still a good opportunity to hear vinyl and pretty good speakers.

There was this small speaker maker from Brooklyn - not DeVore - who had these awesome monitors for under $3000. Need to find my notes and try and get the name. Really liked those.

For its price I liked the Cambridge Audio speakers. Seemed like. Decent value compare to mega bucks setups.

Dearth of horn speakers. Last year there were some great horn speaker setups, but not this year.

Almost zero headphones. Technic had their closed headphones. Seemed pretty decent show conditions and all. I liked them better than the Sony from the loaner tour. But I did not catch the price so no idea if good value, plus, again, show conditions (and Chord Hugo v1).

Mytek was there and had some headphones but room was crowded and I have already heard the Brooklyn and Manhattan so skipped them.

Damn it, I lost the draft of what I typed here before. Here I go again...

Overall the NYAS 2017 was pretty disappointing due to small venue and the lack of exhibitors overall. However, that was pretty irrelevant for me because I found my dream speakers: the PureAudioProject Trio15 Voxativ. Before I get to that, here are some pics of the other rooms I went to. I'm not gonna post impressions of them unless someone asks. The other rooms weren't memorable.

I've never been a fan of widebanders. I've heard the cheap Fostex P1000-BH, Omega Super 3U, Blumestein Orcas w/ matching subs, and the fostex BK kit w/ super tweeters from the 2017 international meet. The best that I've heard was from the fostex kit at the meet, but it was still lacking the fullness and body of traditional speakers. Those speakers had weaknesses that I just could not live with, despite having great coherency and midrange. To date, my favorite speakers are my Overnight Sensations and @sphinxvc's Devore Fidelity The Nines (may add @Dr. Higgs Phil 3s eventually to the list).

Then in comes the PAP Trio15s with their 2x OB-A15neo 15" woofers and voxativ full range drivers. The Trio15 did not exhibit any of the weaknesses I would associate with widebanders. The 15" woofers filled the room nicely, and the bass from large woofers can't be compared to the ones from small ones. The bass was deep, well textured and impactful. Moving onto the midrange, the Voxativ drivers take over through the crossover. While the model shown was the $15,990 Voxativ AC-X Field Coil, I was assured by the rep that the $5990 AC 1.6 gets you 95% of the way there*. The Voxativs reproduced vocals and instruments beautifully (sorry it's kind of vague), and it had no problems with treble extension whatsoever. Despite the small room, the Trio15 threw out a wide soundstage with strong imaging capabilities. Unfortunately I can't comment on how resolving the drivers are since I wasn't familiar with the tracks being played, meet conditions and all. @Muse Wanderer could comment more on his pair.

There's not much that impresses me at the NY Audio Shows anymore, but thankfully I've found my dream speakers. I don't really think there's really much I can ask for in a pair of speakers, and I'll be saving up for a pair of the Trio15 Voxativ AC 1.6. But first, I'll need to save up enough money for a down payment to move out of my house :p

*Side note: the PAPs are modular. You can switch out the Voxativ with different drivers, tweeters, or horns as you wish. The crossover components can also be swapped out as well. The kit is shipped to you and you assemble it yourself. No soldering required. This makes it easy for customers to make upgrades or changes in the future as they are available.

Oh MY GOD! The infection is spreading!! I am not the only one in love with these PAP Trio 15 Voxes!

I know new toy syndrome gets to anyone especially with a 10K speaker, so I tried hard not to post much for 2 months! Two freaking months of hearing exceptional quality bass, such well bodied lower mids that blend so nicely with that bass, mids to die for and that delightful treble. Resolution surpasses my Utopia and the staging is such a treat. (I am really done with headphones I have to say!) Apart from possibly improving on the amp by biamping SS to woofers and SET to Voxativ, and maybe a TT source, I can't even imagine what else I could plan in the future.

Note that mine are wood Voxativs PAPs at 10K. The paper version cost ~7K as $5990 does not include taxes. At least there are no import charges for Europe or US as they distribute from both areas. The price is steep, but I heard utter rubbish at Munich costing tens of thousands of euros and these far surpassed them in so many ways.

Nice report guys. Who exhibited this? Do they have a showroom around NY?
