    Hi folks,

I'm looking for a desktop sized power amp that would pair well with Jot and run a pair of LS50s (or similar) and I ran across NuPrime who have apparently been pushing the envelope in class D gear. Their STA-9 power amp looks like it would fit the bill nicely.

Has anyone heard their stuff? Their are some pockets of glowing praise out there and little criticism, so it's hard to know what to make of it.

I owned the Nuforce STA-100 for a few days (same kind of compact class D power amp), the background noise/ hiss it was consistently making killed it for me. This is well documented, some users do not hear anything, others like me can not get over it and move on to something else. Now the STA-9 is a newer design, but I would check other sources and see whether the noise issue has been resolved before committing. Especially if it is going to be used in a nearfield setup.
If you can, and if budget allows, give a listen to Spec RSA-717, this is a smallish class D amp that sounds amazing.
